Time to show what you got.

 

Got this Gillette Atra for $11.00 shipped. I have some blades for it and will add it to my collection. also would make a good travel razor.............

 

Tuesday’s UPS delivery is the Aylsworth Drakkant stainless steel safety razor in machined finish.

I think this one is the 15mm version. I already have the 17mm.

 

Mine has two of the markings, "Made In USA" and the Gillette Logo in the middle on either side of the hole where the handle goes.

 

Thanks....I found the following on Badger and Blade that shows the difference.
Yours must be the 17mm version.

My 17mm plate does not have the counter sunk hole for the handle as pictured. My plate is flat all the way across the bottom.

 

Now I know what other razor to look for.

 

I just happened across the 15mm. I did not realize it was 15mm till after I ordered it.

You don't see many New Deluxes.

I wonder if they shave different?

 

some folks say the do.personally i think they just differ on the underneath the of baseplate-depth/angle of cut grooves,for more lather clearing.they measure the same at the top side of the teeth.they are not longer and the shape is the same.

 

This is just a guess, but it could be like the New Improved head vs the New head, slight difference.

 

i wouldn't think so.the 15 and 17 mm clamp the blade the same.top of the baseplate is identical.new improved razors clamp the blade slightly differently.

 

I was just wondering and I did compare it to my Bostonian, There is a difference, like a New with shorter teeth.

 

your bostonian/improved is meant/built for 3 hole blades..my new deluxe criterion shaved no differently then my red/black 15 mm one,other than different handles.which is why i sold them off.not keen on the regular deluxe handles.

 

is yours a countersunk hole version?they are meant for the fixed head type handle i believe.more of gillette's"use up the parts" sets.

 

this would be a 17mm head,ignore the canadian part.u.s had them also..
