  1. Given my continued woozyness and tiredness from anasthetics this week(for colonoscopies that failed), my Throwback shave was fine. It didn't help that I had to get up early to shower, shave, have breakfast, and brush my teeth before the water in the bldg. was shut off. My first crack at my Gabels aftershaves(Original). I managed to get solid coverage from the Barbasol. One pass with the razor. Zeros across the board on the cut, Knick, Polka-dot persuasion. Always good news, but I like it better when I get that result from a soap(Stoylin, etc). A reviewer described the Gabels Original A.S. as "just like Skin-bracer". I would agree-Skin-Bracer on stilts (as there is 16. oz. of the Gabels, only 3.5 of SB). Very Oustanding.

  3. Thank you Chris...My low-high setting method works for me, I occasionally do the high-low method but I also sometimes just set it to its highest setting, depending on my blade choice. That's the advantage of adjustable razors.,.The only disadvantage using the higher settings especially with the Ming shi 2000s I've found is you can get blade chatter.
  4. Thank you Joe.

Awesome Fat Friday shave. Three very smooth drama free passes. The Fat was wonderful today but I always load heavy and have too much soap.

    Happy Friday everyone.

  6. Fab Fat Friday shave Danny. I usually load heavy as well because I prefer not going back to the puck. Enjoy your day.

Schicks: I have read the earlier Shicks are more aggressive so it is nice to hear you confirm that Joe.

Nice looking shaving set up there @Hogie glad to see someone else using Preshave. I live that blue colour on the ProRaso lid.

    21 Apr 2023 border.jpg

    Skipped a day yesterday.
Growth: 48 hours, Fab shave before heading off to work.
    Lather Bowl: blue
    Brush: Pure Badger
Razor: Gillette Adjustable: Slim set at #6, first time I ran this on number 6.
    Blade: Astra SP (2)
Usual Face Prep and Pre shave
Cream/Soap: Arko, thick, slick and smooth. But I do get the idea it dries the skin out a bit more than other soaps.
Post Shave: Usual. Alum not needed.
Aftershave: Thayers and Brut. Nice aftershave stinging.

    Passes:
    1st pass: Super efficient.
    2nd pass: Super efficient.
Touch ups: The usual areas. Going obliquely ATG on the top lip. Pushing the limits but not damage yet.

Superb result with the Arko and the Gillette Slim on #6. We have some good days and some not so good days but this was definitely one of the better ones.

Used the Slim on #6 the whole way. The first pass was nearly good enough, but one can’t just stop there, right? 2nd pass even better. Buffing and ATG resulted in another great shave.

I think what is going on here is that with the Slim set to a higher number than usual, I am cleaning up more on the first pass and needed less work in the subsequent passes, hence less skin irritation. Of course the Astra SP helps too.

I feel I can use more pressure on Pass 1 with a Gillette razor, especially with 48 hours stubble.
Later passes and buffing need less pressure, much less.

Residual stubble: right lower neck. Hmmm this annoying area will remain my shaving challenge.

Hope you all have some cool things planned for the weekend.
    Good health to all!
  9. Excellent shave and assessments Chris! Enjoy your day!

    SRS # 867 - Fougere Friday - Brocha

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: C V Heljestrand 14. 7/8” Camel Bone Scales
Brush: Leo Frilot ECWS 2018 Ghost Trails
Lather: Old Cahaba Shave Club Brocha
Aftershave: Los Jabones de Joserra Brocha
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Late post as I am a bit under the weather. I seemed to have developed some congestion and a cough. Decided to take it easy today for the more part.

I did have a very nice shave tibia morning with the Brocha and the CV H straight. Three passes did the trick without any incidents.

Hope you all have had a great day gentlemen.

    Oh yes: LGR!
