    Good afternoon.

    1959 Gillette Fatboy (setting 6)
Gillette Wilkinson Sword DE Blade (1,2)
    MrEE LE #10 Cashmere Brush
Music City Suds Lavender and Ever Amen SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Beard Growth: 22 hrs
    Dome Turf: 2 days

Decided to do a head and face shave using my Fatboy with a new blade. I kept it on setting six because I had just under a full day's growth and I figured it would be fine with a 2 day dome carpet. The Music City Suds is just an awesome experience. The scent is a more masculine lavender and the lather is very slick and creamy. I made enough for my 2 pass face shave and three pass head shave. I figure that the amount of real estate of the head is 1.5 x the face so I figured that I made enough for 6-7 face passes. Lol! Here is my lather:

This shave resulted in BBS all the way around without any incidents. Did get a few zings from the alum, but nothing serious. Splashed on a nice amount of the matching aftershave and I am clean and refreshed. Take care.

Thanks Joe. I think that I will switch to bowl lathering for most of my shaves in order to preserve the integrity of the soaps. Soaps that have lost their scents I may consider making face lathers.

Superb! Amazing industrial looking outer Galactic razor. How much does that weigh? (in grams please:D)

Great write-up and insight Paul, gotta be happy with that shave!

Classic looking barber set up there Joe.

Hi guys! I was out having pizza and went to the Dollar Tree nearby just to browse. Well I found this plastic bowl that is deep and wide enough to use as a shave bowl. The design on the bottom is raised so that it makes it easier to lather. The "ears" on the side completes the elephant face. Lol! Grasping an ear helps steady the bowl while lathering. Here is the bowl. I paid $1.25 for it.

I decided to use Cella to see how it lathers in this bowl. A pic is worth a thousand words.

The pictures below show my face lathered on the first round and the amount left on the brush and bowl. Based on the results, this may be my fav shave bowl

Thank you Joe...The HMF scent is nice, it scent doesn't have much of a longevity as probably the Sterling soap which sounds wonderful, but it's performance and post shave feel are wonderful.

    Chris,

The razor weighs in at 124.8 grams. Head is 59.3, handle is 65.5 grams.

For comparison a Rockwell 6S with plate 5/6 is 120.5 grams.

A Tatara Masamune is 87.3 grams.

When I add my Weber Classic handle to the Ikon head it brings the weight to 136.1 grams.

    Take care.

Awesome find Joe. I like a salsa bowls but they are not deep enough at times. My favorite bowl in the Timeless Razor Shave bowl. $16.00 from Maggard's and I think Maggard's is the only ones to carry it in black. The thing is indestructible.

Thanks Danny. All my shaving bowls were purchased from the Dollar Tree except my porcelain one that I bought at a thrift shop. I wasn't looking for another bowl, but this one just caught my eye. It really makes it easy to make a quick lather. I like my other bowls, but this is definitely my star.

I am familiar with the Timeless Bowls and that Maggards stocks them. It is definitely deep and the ridges that go up onto the sides is a nice touch. I just can't see spending 75 dollars on a custom pottery shave bowl that could easily break. Don't get me wrong. They are nice to look at and admire but I know that it wouldn't last long in my den. Lol! I just get a kick out of using inexpensive bowls to make very nice lathers.

I understand. I have a nice ceramic bowl I picked up cheap at a flea mall but I put it up on a shelf because I was afraid it would get broke. The Timeless bowl can take a licking.

    Take care.

Thanks Danny, heavy weight indeed, I'll bet they felt it when they dropped it on their big toe Lol! and decided to toss it. Their loss was your gain! Nicely done!

More fun with the Executive Man style shave.

    Stubble: a very non-executive 48 hours
Prep = Usual Preshave with Proraso Green Mild Menthol May.
Soap = Stirling Executive man, thought it would be fair to give it another go.
    Brush = Razorock 400 Synthetic
Razor = Gillette Slim I-4 set to #5 all the way.
    Blade = Gillette 7 o’clock Super Stainless (1)
Passes = my usual 3 passes with touch ups needed.
Post: Warm water rinse, cold water rinse, no alum was needed, Thayers, Proraso Rinfrescante ASL.

Result: Minor temporary weeper below lower lip, cleared up on its own.

Great results, except for the fact that because I spent more time on some problems areas, others were missed!

Could have been smoother? Yes, but at a cost of some skin loss.

There is something about the Gillette design that just seems to work, and makes it very user friendly, I guess they had many years to perfect this.

I allowed the brush to splay onto the soap rather than just loading the tips like I normally do. It seemed to take up more soap this way and the Sterling tub is big enough to allow this. The brush and the loading technique are yet more variables to play with in this enjoyable hobby.

Overall Result 8/10. Level of satisfaction, 9/10.

Smooth and presentable for whatever this Friday may bring.

Have a lovely Friday and wonderful weekend ahead.

Great Gillette Slim Adjustable shave Chris! I agree that the Stirling tub is wide enough to splay the brush while loading the soap. Imo, Stirling is easy to lather, and provides a slick, voluminous and cushiony lather. It's very difficult to get a bad shave with Stirling Soaps.
