Awesome shave this morning. I'm no lather master like Joe @Trigger but I did do a little better this morning and spent more time with the bowl.

The S3S is a wonderful shaver but requires a light touch. It takes a while to get used too but I just have to let the weight of the razor do the work.

Three very nice passes and the alum was was is just a few spots...it is getting better.

    Happy Tuesday everyone!

Lol! I scoop out just enough soap to place in the bowl for my face shave. Obviously, it would be more for a head and face shave in the same session. I flatten and spread the soap with my fingers in the bowl. I fill the bowl with water and then drain so you have residual water in the bowl and on the soap. I wet my brush and use it to wet my face. Shake the brush to rid the excess water and go to the bowl to swish 60 to 80 times one way and then reverse the direction going 60 to 80 times. Hit the brush tips under the water and go back to the bowl and repeat the swirling as before. That's 60 to 80 clock-wise and 60 to 80 counter-clockwise. Add water to tips and repeat the swirling the same amount of times but slightly splay the brush while doing so. Fourth time, repeat the process and go up and down, sideways and clockwise and counter-clockwise. At this point, it is not necessary to count because the lather is starting to show. I tamp down on the lather that is on the side walls and swirl. I take the brush and collect the soap and push it on the bottom side wall . That's the side closest to my belly. Lol! Fifth swirl, add water to tips and repeat process in 4th step, but you are splaying much more. Push the lather to the bottom wall and swipe the side walls that have lather. Take the brush and twirl sideways into the lather mountain that you pushed to the bottom. It's similar to twirling a honey ladle. Voila! You have a picture perfect lather.

    SRS # 887 - 1508.5 Project - Calle Ocho

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Genco-Old Dutch 3/4”
Brush: Shore Shave Blue Nebula w/ Paragon 25 mm Boar
    Lather: Lather Bros. Calle Ocho
Aftershave: FreyjasMagic Thor’s Hammer Bay Rum
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

The Calle Ocho soap continues to be a lather monster. The Shore Shave boar brush whipped up a luxuriously thick lather. Three passes with plenty left over to achieve shave Nirvana.

The Genco straight continues to deliver wonderful shaves. Something to be said about the fine New York steel.

Hope you all have a great day gentlemen.

Superb description Joe, thank you, I think I understand that now: you transfer the amount of soap you need to the bowl and take it from there.

You're welcome Chris. I neglected to mention that I vigorously swirl the brush through the entire process. I think that I will make a video on my lathering method.

@Trigger: Chris he is just being a copycat, :signs136:, I have been telling him about using a bowl for years. At times his Italian heritage comes into play; “Testa dura”. (Thick headedness).

Oh I forgot, he is a New Yorker too.

Glad he has finally seen the light

I went to the gym this morning and took this selfie before my 30 min rowing session. I killed time because I was getting my car inspected. Thank goodness that my mechanic is within walking distance from the gym. Oh, the car passed inspection. Lol!

I decided to use my Parker Shavette because I did a bowl lathering tutorial video. I was just going to end the video without shaving, but I decided to do a 2 pass shave. The lather took 6 min and the 2 pass shave took 6 min.
Applying the alum and the aftershave took another min. so the video was just over 13 min. It's why I don't have a pic of the lather because you guys will see it later this week on the video. For a quick 2 pass shave, I got a nice, comfortable shave without any errors. I thought I had an oops, but there wasn't any blood. You will hear me go oops on the video. Lol! Take care.
