    An especially pleasing shave. :happy093:

The Riga had a bit of a bite to it so I took out the loupe to look at it. What? A chip and some pitting showed up in the middle of the edge. I have only taken a razor to the hones for anything other than touch ups once before. But, with a combination of film and my stones, I was able to take out the chip and pitting. With a Thuringian finish it’s back to it’s original super smooth and effortless shave quality. :happy036:

    Hot water preparation
    Argan Oil PSO
    Savile Row 3824
    MSC Vintage Spice Shaving Soap
    Riga Razor 8/8
Vintage Old Spice After Shave Splash

I know my RigaRazor loves the Escher Thuringian stone. What do you think caused the chippy edge? Did you tape the spine?

Yup, taped the spine. One layer.

I had assumed I must have been careless handling it sometime and nicked the edge but the shallow pitting behind the nick has me wondering if it was a defect. I always put a light coat of oil on the edge after each shave as protection against corrosion so the defect theory is the best I’ve got at the moment. :signs002:

All right shave den crew , I had my first successful shave with my freshly honed catty green lizard from @gssixgun. No blood was spilled , and after finding the right angle it was a stellar experience. I just did my cheeks to my jaw and my side burns for now. @gssixgun thank you for taking care of me on the catty, excellent work!! @PLANofMAN & @DaltonGang thank you guys for the constant support and guidance. Not sure if it weren't for you 3 guys that I would of been this successful or enjoyed it this much.

Which steel is it? They used both Böhler steel, and tungsten steel, at least a few years ago.

I don't know. I do know mine is a new one, of just a month, or two ago. I don't know when they made the switch.

    Saturday Straights' Cold Water Shave

    Cold Water Rinse
    De Vergulde Hand Shave Soap
    Jayaruh #277 Silvertip Badger
    Luxor Pro Master
    Gillette Silver Blue
    CWR
    Cella After Shave Balm

The De Vergulde Hand Shave Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #277 Silvertip Badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Luxor Pro Master and a Half Gillette Silver Blue Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Cella After Shave Balm. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed..
