  4. Thanks Joe. We were actually camping about 40 miles from the house on the Alabama/ Mississippi state line. The Tennessee Tombigbee waterway connects the Tennessee River to the Tombigbee River. It is a very important water way for barge traffic and even pleasure craft.

    Take care.

  5. Super Sunday morning shave Barry! I assume you use the shaving bar like a stick. Have you tried slicing a bit from the bar to bowl lather?

    SE Shave # 335 - Gemini Shave - Schick Type J Injector - Ever Ready 200T - Stirling Agar

    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: Shick - Injector Type J
    Blade: Persona Injector (5)
    Brush: Ever Ready 200T
    Lather: Stirling Agar
    Aftershave: Stirling Agar
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Another very nice shave with the Stirling Agar. I do enjoy the scent of this soap and aftershave. In comparison with the WK King of Oud, the Agar is a slightly darker scent.

Another three pass shave with stellar results. A super smooth and close shave without any irritation or incidents. I will bin this blade the next time I use this razor, as I tend to use my DE and SE blades (non GEM) for five shaves.

    Travel day back to LI.

  10. Thank you Joe. I normally use the shaving bar like a shave stick, but occasionally I scrap a few shavings into my bowl and build up a lather. Both methods give satisfactory results when I use a synthetic brush.

    Good afternoon.

    Shavette Shave #462
    Dovo
    Personna Hairshaper Blade (9,10)
    MrEE Tuxedo Brush
    Arko
    Proraso Green AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Beard Growth: 24 hrs
    Dome Turf: 3 days

    20230618_113917.jpg

Yes, I did a face and dome shave with my Dovo Shavette. I haven't done a dome shave with an open blade razor in a few yrs. I figured that since I am a year older, that I need to keep my hand coordination sharp. Pun was intended.

Anyway, I decided to use Arko because I needed a very slick soap to attack my 3 day head scruff with this disposable straight razor. Here is this gorgeous lather:

    20230618_114423.jpg

Did two passes on my face and dome for a BBS result. I did use my Gillette Slim adjustable to hit my 2 trouble spots that are on the curves of my cranium. I could have gotten it with my shavette, but the blade has seen too many uses and didn't want to take a change of cutting myself. If the blade was fresh or had a few uses then it wouldn't have been a problem for me. However, I did get a slight nick on the right side of my head, but the alum made it disappear. The alum feedback was minimal all the way around. Splashed on the Proraso and I am ready for the world. Take care.

  16. Soap was a little powdery smelling, very pleasant. But the smell of that brush was very off putting, could not get over how it smelled like mothballs. I guess that’s gonna be my nickname again on here after that.

  18. Let me tell you what, despite not having one of my DE razors on me since I’m currently out of town. This was an excellent shave. Burma-shave is indisputable. The best shave soap I currently own in my den. Surprisingly better than any vintage puck of Old Spice I own. Slickness of this soap was through the roof. I’m pretty sure this might be a tallow soap based on how this soap performed but I could be wrong. I highly recommend getting yourself a puck. You can find them pretty cheap on Ebay. Or if your lucky like me, you can find them in the wild.
