Natural bristles usually smell. You have to soak it in water filled with dishwasher liquid or shampoo to get rid of the odor.

Wonderful vacation shave Danny. Joe, @Trigger, married? Don’t count him out yet, I have seen him in action at the Rocky Point Diner.

    Screwtape A Shaving Butterfly

Monday, June 19 2023 (very very early morning) - Just the Basics June

    Prep: Hot water face wash
Razor: Supply 2.0 matte black stainless injector / Supply Black Label (9)
    Brush: Simpson's Chubby 2 Synthetic
Soap: Kiss My Face Lavender Shea moisture shave cream (pump bottle)
Post: Rinse, alum, cold rinse, leftover lather as moisturiser, rinse

My last shave was early on Sunday June 11, so eight days of beard growth ago.

Today's soap is a drugstore product made by a "green" company -- vegan, preservative-free and quite good ingredients but still a commercial product. Maybe I should say it "was" such a product: Kiss My Face still has products on the shelves for shampoos and conditioners, body wash, skin moisturiser, and bar and liquid hand soaps, but I last saw its shave cream around about five years ago. Maybe its discontinued? If so, that's a pity, because it was a very good product at a reasonable drugstore price -- not as cheap as canned foam but definitely less than most of the artisan shave soap brands.

I was pleased to see that, after sitting neglected for several years, my pump bottle of shave cream was still sufficiently liquid for the pump to work on the first try! That's a far better result than many tubs of shave cream... The lavender scent was quite faint but still present. Though to be honest, I don't recall this product ever having a terribly strong scent even when new.

The shave cream is designed to be usable just by being spread on men's faces (or women's legs) by hand. I, however, naturally used a brush, which I think provides a better shave preparation as it lifts the whiskers and partly exfoliates the skin. I don't think this cream will ever whip up into a thick fluffy lather, but the thin even layer it provides is extremely slick and protective. And the post-shave feel is excellent.

Two passes with the injector resulted in a DFS, very nearly a BBS. In fact, I only really needed one pass for a decent cleanshaven result. I enjoyed the slickness so much that I went for a second pass anyway. And after rinsing off and testing with the alum (it was silent), I squeezed the lather remnant out of my brush into my hand and used it as a moisturizer, then rinsed off and patted dry.

Overall a good start to the week.

    Classic once again Gary. Majestic.
Hmm, not looking too hard atm, mostly shabby, mismatches, unknowns or overpriced.

    (PS: open question:
Is there a general What Razor Is that thread here somewhere? (don't want to go off-track on this thread)

    20 hours pre work shave
Such a close shave yesterday with my Gillette new, I did think of not shaving today but went ahead anyway

    Muhle R89
Gillette Platinum blue (3) worked well
Sterling Orange chill + Omega 49 + Timeles bowl = great lather

Initial plan was to just do one quick pass, but that was never going to happen
However only two passes were needed thanks to the new shave from yesterday, some minor touch ups

    Usual post shave aftercare

No skin was lost. Good enough shave for the day ahead at work

    Chuffed!

Excellent shave and post John. I think you are right that Kiss My Face discontinued their shave soap line. Have a great week.
