Thank Joe. As you know from our lengthy discussions at our breakfast, I do not like to put moisture directly onto the puck. Only the sample tins of Stirling and any soap I have in a mug will get a damp brush directly on the soap. All other tubs get the scoop method. Beside I just like the bowl lathering process.

It's called 'Old Gold'. And you are correct it's a take on Old Spice... I had a sample of it.

    Good afternoon.

    Straight Razor Shave #462

Angora Soaps Midnight Lavender SS and AS

Everything went well with this shave.
Angora Soaps is such a great performer. Btw, Pasteur's Pharmacy offers free shipping to the US and Puerto Rico. To those that live outside the US, sorry about that my friends. Pasteur's still has Angora Soaps Midnight Lavender and I believe Sandalwood as well. The pucks are on sale for $9.99 from the usual price of $17.00.

    Here's the lather:

I did an error-free 2 passer with a near BBS result. I think that I am going to hit this razor on my films because it's not as sharp as I like it, despite the nice shave it gave me.
The alum feedback was negligible. Splashed on the matching aftershave to finish my session. Take care.

    Not a bad shave today.
It was time for a new blade today. Went with my old reliable Voskhod blade. Warm water and a face lather, (not a fan of bowl lathering natural brushes until they’re well broken in) 2 passes. cold water rinse. Applied the vintage skin bracer to finish off the shave. Could have done a little better with this shave. As slick as the soap is, it didn’t prevent me from nicking my self on my J hook pass, which honestly I wasn’t expecting it to prevent that, no soap as far as I know can prevent you from cutting yourself entirely. It really boils down to how your using your razor and the angle at which your cutting at. I’ve mastered the J hook method with every razor I own so far, except my open comb. That one is a little hard to work with me personally, just need some practice.

    Overall shave 8/10

I’m getting a little off topic but it seems as if some of the original guys that I used to talk to and see post on here haven’t been on TSD lately. That could be partially due to me not keeping up to date with you guys lately. But just haven’t heard much from guys like Charlie for an example (aka Wrist Watch) anyone know how him and his wife are doing? Ever since I Joined the Marines I kinda fell off TSD from being so busy. Trying to be consistent on here again.

Charlie and his wife Kathy are doing well. Kathy has been in remission for approximately 2 years. The old regular members moved on for various reasons. Jeff @jgreenepa was in the hospital a year ago. I spoke with him a couple of months ago and he said he will be returning some time in the future. I took over for the Maestro and he rarely posts here and it's usually to support you and Paul. Some of your fellow Southern boys got miffed and so they left this thread or The Shave Den altogether. Others like Evan @MrEE and Tim have dropped off the face of the Earth. New people have come and gone as well or stop in once in a blue moon.
