Saturday Straights' Cold Water Shave Cold Water Rinse Musgo Real Shaving Soap Jayaruh #30 Silvertip Badger Gebr. Becker 5/8 CWR Aqua Velva Iced Blue After Shave The Musgo Real Shaving Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #30 Silvertip Badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gebr. Becker 5/8 Straight gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Aqua Velva Iced Blue After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Do any of you straight razor gents know any helpful information about the Gebr. Becker Straights. I know they were made in Solingen, Germany. I found out that Gebr. Becker means Brothers Becker. My razor says White Steel on one side and Gebr. Becker, Solingen, Germany on the other. That is all I can tell you. I don't know if it is pre or post-WWII.
Hope this helps. The Gebrüder Becker, Stahlwarenfabrik, company began in 1921, with the two brothers Arthur and Cuno Becker. Becker registered with the Solingen chamber of commerce on June 4, 1928. The firm specialized in flatware, knives and scissors. Come the Third Reich era, Becker made SA daggers-Fisher estimates 3,000. By 1939, Arthur Becker was the sole owner, while the company was located on Peter-Hahn-Weg 12. After the war, the firm re-located to Erholungstrasse 10 and changed its name to "Gebr. Becker, Stahlwaren-Bestecke". By the late 1980's Becker ceased trading and went out of business.
