Hello everyone, I've been out of the scene for quite a while. In past years I have bought each of my sons a their birth year razor. A razor that was released in the year that they were born. As you can probably guess from my profile picture I am in the market for another razor that was released, or will be released, in 2023. I'm hoping you all can give me some pointers to new razors that hit the market this year. I hope you all have been doing well and I can wait to chat with and see some old friends! If you want stylish the Yaqi Bohemia razor is a good choice. It is a modern take on the French Bohin.
Andrew, it is great to hear from you! You have a beautiful family and are blessed indeed. In case you are interested, a few 30 Day Crew members hang out on the 3017 thread. Participants select a product from their shave den and commit to use it up. It's not as fast-moving, and you are welcome to jump in anytime.
Hi Charlie! Thank you! Nice to see you! I haven't bought a single piece of shave grear in over 3 years. Let the enabling begin! BTW the newest member of my family, Crew, was born in January. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
The only razor worth considering this year, imo. The Blackland Osprey. Blackland's first adjustable razor, currently in production, and will be released in the next few months. If you have the time, I recommend going back and watching the previous four videos on the development process. Edit: The Yaqi Bohemia is a nice looking razor too, and certainly is going to be much more budget friendly.
The yaqi looks cool but I think I want to stick to a DE razor for him. I also came across the WCS American Liberty: https://www.westcoastshaving.com/products/wcs-american-liberty-cnc-safety-razor Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
My second son's birth year razor is the original Game Changer. I don't think I would consider that to be released this year since it's just a new baseplate. Keep em coming though! Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
Merica TI by Yates Precision Manufacturing is going to be released. The Fine DE5 by Fine Accoutrements is already available. Blutt Rasur BR1 is as well a nice 2023 DE razor. Paradigm Salient is nice too. Aviation94 AL by Design94 looks great. Parker 78R is an efficient choice. Hammer by Pearl Shaving is efficient too. Vortex by Boti Brush too. Elbrus is an adjustable slant by Home Like Shaving RU, quite unique. DScosmetics DS-AX is very close to Wolfman WR2, as Yaqi Sentinel. Yaqi Sputnik, Slope, Mercury, Thalia, Harlequin, Vostok, Ultima, Trifecta ... and SE Tachi or Romulus / Remus (Gemini). About SE there're others too: Broman Mark II Wolfman WR4 DScosmetics Mars Atelier Duran La Faulx and Vestige Blackland Vector TI Anodized You've plenty of choice ...
Definitely not the razor I was looking at. That think looks like a beast! Is it reportedly very aggressive?
I must agree here. All the reports have been pretty good for this razor. It has a two sided baseplate that can be flipped, one is more mild than the other. I have read no complaints from anyone about how it shaves. A few people don't care for the handle, but that's about the only negative. I haven't used this razor myself. Only the original bohin baseplate with @twhite's homage, and of course Tom's razor. If this Chinese version is anything like the original bohin or Tom's razor, it's a good razor. I'd still hold out for the Blackland Osprey if I were you, but that's my own lustful thoughts on that particular razor intruding. I don't think either razor would leave you disappointed.
