Did a 3 pass shave plus a touchup with this setup. It's still quite warm here on Long Island and still enjoying Cryogen.
    Here is today's lather:

    20230727_170837.jpg

I did get a BBS shave, but I opened up a previous nick from a prior shave on my cheek. Oh well, thank goodness it was a small bugger. This blade will probably go 20 shaves because it's still sharp. I just love using these blades.
As an aside, I met with Joe @JACarbone for breakfast and I was telling him how much I like using these blades in this razor, but I need to spice it up a bit by using a 1/2 DE Blade when I replace this blade. Also, he told me about his trips to Europe and Boston. We had a nice conversation. The only bad thing about the meeting was our fav waitress was not working and needless to say this morning’s waitress was not as competent.
Anyway, back to reviewing my shave.
The alum was pretty silent so I was happy to say the least. Splashed on that old man's aftershave to finish with this refreshing shave. Take care.

But you understand that one and done requires a few more blades than most have laying around the house.
Also some blades are coated and don't give the best shave till the second use.
Feather blades are best outa the paper.

  9. Thanks Terry, I have a few lying around, but a large variety, guess I will just have to try 'em and see. I didn't mind the Feathers in the Techs and Rockets. I don't mind if I do have be a one and done, until I find the ones that suit me best.

  10. I wonder how your blade commentary would pertain to disposeABLE razors.
  11. Hey Paul.

I don't know anything about disposable razors.
So I'll do the math on my blades.
I spent anywhere between 18 to 26 cents US on the blades buying them in bulk.
Going on the high side I'll use 25 cents a piece.

    One week at 25 cents x 7 days = $1.75.
    $1.75 x 4 weeks in a month = $7.00 a month.
That's on the high side of my purchase.

How does that compare to disposable blades?
    I'm not sure.

  12. Fine shave this morning. I must admit the Stoylin Sheep soap is maybe too warm for this hot weather, but I knew the Osage would calm things later, as it did. At least it was a Stoylin(the soap), so that's good. Fine work all 0ver, but a cut occurred smack in the middle of my jawline. Not a bad one, but the redness happenned just the same. Maybe I "chipped" a little too hard there. 2 passes. I should have used a little more Osage, but it felt good anyway. I've been using a lot of Stoylin all week...good :). Skipped the Halston cologne. Most Outstanding.

  13. At CVS, I get a bag of 12 disposeABLES, for the same price as if I had bought 9. It depends if I use the same disposeABLE(blade)for 2 passes, sometimes I do 3, and on occasion 4. The 12-razor bag costs about $14.
JACarbone, ChrisB, brit and 2 others like this.
  14. Hey Paul.

    So 12 blades cost $14.
14 devided by 24 if you use a blade twice is $0.58 for each shave.
    $4.08 dollars per week.
    $17.40 per month.

Comparing my blades with the disposable blades it cost you $212.16 a year for you if you use a razor 2 times.

I pay $91.00 for a year of blades if I use a blade only once.

    IMO
This doesn't matter really, because we use the razor and blade we like and cost has little with what we choose to shave with.

  15. Maybe not, but your math impresses me.
