It was time for a head and face shave so I picked out my Fatboy to do my head and my Ace of Spades to do the rest.
Of course, Angora Soaps has always provided me with a nice lather.

    20230804_164153.jpg

Two passes on my face and 3 passes on Dome gave me a great result without any damage. Alum feedback was slight on the dome and face. Splashed on the witch hazel and matching aftershave to end this nice session. Take care.

Cold water face wash with brush squeezings, Cold Water Face Rinse. /Homemade (~Spring/Summer mix~) Lemon, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Essential Oils + 3 Menthol Crystals, Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel./Denim Original ASL./ Aloe Vera Cooling Gel.

    Greetings,

A new eclectic shave set up to start the weekend...Continuing with the Yaqi DOC Head/Schmidt R10 Handle Frankenrazor with all my SOTD sets up this week using another of my infrequently used Frankensoap creations.

Out of all the Franken-razors that I have mixed & matched this one is my favourite. The weight of the Schmidt handle gives it a good heft this could easily be my daily shave razor as it's non-aggressive, but at the same time gives a comfortable DFS/ BBS, and pairs together with every blade choice that i have matched it up with so far. What more could I ask for.

An enjoyable close comfortable face & head shave with no errors to report. Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Aloe Vera Cooling Gel.

My face & precious swede are feeling smooth cool and smelling divine. ;)

Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.

  19. Re: Cerakote or GunKote on razors. As I understand the process, it is essentially the same as if the razor was being plated with nickel or chrome - the coating covers all exposed internal or external surfaces. The razor is totally disassembled and degreased, and then all the separate parts are dipped in the liquid. The parts are allowed to drip dry, and once dry are cured by being baked at a specified temperature. Thus, all the internal moving surfaces of the mechanism are coated.

My own sensation is that the "cap feel" of my cerakoted razor is exactly the same as the feel of any other metal razor. The coating is a very very thin film unlike a paint. (The small stamped date markings on the bottom side of the plate are still perfectly legible.). And it is extremely hard. It is not at all tacky or gummy like a paint coating can be; it just feels like perfectly smooth metal.

I am glad to hear your Semogue OC badger is treating you well so far. The company has been in business for decades and their badger brushes generally have excellent ratings and reviews on the boards. If floppy wimpy knots and excessive shedding were normal complaints about their Owners' Club badgers, I would never have bought one. I think mine was just one of those Monday morning lemons that sneak past even the best companies' quality control every now and then. The cherrywood handle was beautiful, so re-knotting it made sense.
