    SE Shave # 342 - DECLARATION GROOMING MICROMATIC MONDAY

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: GEM Micromatic Open Comb
    Blade: GEM Stainless
    Brush: Sawdust Creation Studio “Inferno” Silver Fox Synthetic
    Lather: Declaration Grooming/Chatillon Lux YRP
    Aftershave: Chatillon Lux YRP Toner
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

    A very nice three pass shave with the MMOC prior to my meetup with Joe, @Trigger, for our monthly breakfast. Superb shave that has left my face super smooth throughout the day. The scent of the soap/toner is gradually growing on me. Unfortunately, the missus is not a big fan.

    Hope you all have had a great day.

    Marvelous Micromatic Monday shave Joe. Great breakfast this morning, but it would have been better with Pam serving us.

    Hi all.
    Changed it up a bit this morning thought I'd share.

    20230822_054816.jpg

    Used my Yaqi Katana half blade SE razor.
    Been quite a while since I ran this across the old mug and gourd.
    I'd forgotten how smooth but efficient it glides across the skin with a feather blade loaded. As with most SE injector razors I find trimming around ears and chin beard was easy and close, this felt like one
    A one pass head and face work shave for a normal week day.
    Reminds me of a Schick E or PAL with a B20 blade.
    The head shave was impressive even using just half of the blade at the end.
    I got my lather to thin to my liking, but still OK to use.
    A splash of AS and ready for the day.
    I'll use the other half of the blade for tomorrow's shave.

    Enjoy

    tp

    24 hours

    Tech Tuesday/Artisan ASL

    22 Aug 2023 border.jpg

    Prep = Cold water rinse 30 secs x 3
    Pre shave = Palmolive cream in a tube massaged in against the grain
    Soap = Col Conk Bay Rum
    Brush = Puro Tasso
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Gillette Tech (Argentina)
    Blade = Gillette Platinum (3)
    Passes = 3 + clean ups as needed
    Technique = loaded brush from the puck, into bowl, adding water, too much initially, back to the puck for more soap. For the last pass I loaded more onto the brush from the puck because the lather was too thin for my liking. Despite that I ended the shave at the "good enough" stage, feeling exfoliated, for me that is the signal for Time-Out
    Post = Cold water rinse, alum, cold water rinse, towel dried, Thayers, I applied the Nivea cream first because of the Bay Rum soap burn, then followed by Sterling Bay Rum ASL (air dried in the hands before applying).
    Damage = No blood, but the shave felt rough despite the blade being on Day 3. Can’t be the Tech, these usually work well for me. So I blame it on my deficient acquaintance with the Col Conk Bay Rum soap. It did not provide the best slickness, compared to Arko, Tabac, MWF etc

    Score = 9/10 a slightly laboured shave
    Comments = the Bay Rum soap provided the same tingling as the Bay Rum aftershave when I first used this. So this must be the ingredients. Double dose of Bay Rum, first the soap then the ASL! A not unpleasant stinging for a minute or so

    (I will come back to the soap another day, perhaps with a stiffer brush to load more, and with my favourite Merkur Progress. At this stage I would say it is over-rated)

    Overall good shave, smooth for the most parts, all Rummed-Up for the day ahead

    Have a Great Tuesday everyone

    I wish I could rubberstamp my SAME AS YESTERDAY stamp on here.No real differences. One glitch prevented me from the A+. It was in a different place though-Central Cactus Nation(neck). No pain. It just showed up. Went too rough down there. Real nice everywhere else. 2 passes. Another great performance from the Knize 10 clone(Fine's LATIGO). Super Duper Outstanding.

    Razor: Puma 65
    Brush: Sawdust Creation Studio Old Cahaba
    Lather: Lather Bros. Calle Ocho
    Aftershave: Aqua Velva Musk
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

    Another absolutely fantastic lather presented by the Calle Ocho. I will be sad to see its demise towards the beginning of October. Currently, I have about 33 grams of soap left which leads me to estimate about 27 shaves left in the tub. I have been using the soap on average 3 times a week. I may need to do a Tuesday-Thursday and Saturday rotation just to get to the end of September.

    The Puma straight delivered an irritation and issue free shave which is the norm south of the 42nd parallel and east of the 73.4 West. :eatdrink013:

    Hope you all are having a great day.
