Charlie, you lost me at "take on Clubman". BTW, does a Subway ride really cost $2.90? Last time I rode it was $2.00.
-Tuesday- #77 new rfb/kcg soc palmolive hollister good morning gents. a rare glimpse at the"daily"rack. there are always 7 razors locked and loaded in the den, they get switched out when their blade is done. awesome. have a fine tuesday everyone.
Joseph, I believe fares went up last week. I’m pretty sure that’s the number. It was all over the news for a day or two, but the hoo ha seems to have subsided from what I can see. AFAIK bus and subway one-way fares had been $2.75 for some time. Tbh, other than the Long Island Railroad, we haven’t used mass transportation more than a handful of times in a very long time. The LIRR is very convenient for us. There’s a Bayside station on the Port Washington branch. We’re in midtown in under a half hour. Easy breezy . Fwiw, I’m also not a Clubman lover. It’s cloying (is that the correct word here?). But,,, the Pitralon, which does smell similar I think, is spicier and has more going on than the sweet smack in the face from Pinaud. Note: No offense intended
Paul et al, My dislike of Clubman (except for its ability as a drain cleaner) is well-documented. I won’t pile on (again), short of one more descriptor- it smells Cheap. Lots of splashes are cheap, it smells cheap.
Day 21 Karve ‘F’ Plate w PermaSharp APShave SynBad/ Poculi Asylum/SV Colonia combo Thayers I’m going to play with my Karve for awhile. I realize I don’t really mess around with different plates, and I will endeavour to do so over the next few weeks. Today was the F plate, which is the most aggressive one I own. Still a pretty smooth shave. The soap focus? More of the same…all good.
I'm glad you feel better, Clint. Sure sorry to hear about Swati. Hopefully she will recover soon. We attended the State Fair today, and a nurse there told me that they've already started seeing cases of the flu this fall. Hard to believe. Guess we'll be getting our annual shot soon. Ugh.
Scent preferences are very personal. I seriously doubt if there's any scent that's universally appealing, except for the scent of bacon. For example, I'm an Aramis fan, but many (unenlightened, misinformed, and downright nutty) folks think it's a real stinker. I just like to have fun and tease, Paul. Keep enjoying the Clubman, my friend.
Day 22 Karve ‘F’ plate w PermaSharp ‘17 30DC LE Asylum/SV Colonia Thayers CL Unconditional Surrender The focus rolls along. The splash, however …c’est fini.
August 23, 2023 Greencult GC 2.0 Plate #2 Gillette Nacet Zenith B29 Boar SV Felce Aromatica Shave Soap & Aftershave Happy Wednesday. My business associates were not at all pleased that I came into work yesterday while still somewhat sick. So I am working from home today which is probably a good idea since my head is killing me. At least I was able to get the day started with a fantastic shave to start the day. I decided to buy some Nacet blades during a sale from Italian Barber. First impressions are good. I am thinking the soap will be done in the next 2 to 3 shaves. Have a great day everyone.
Hope you’re feeling better soon, Clint. I really like Nacets, fwiw. I’ve got a bit of a stockpile as Italian Barber does often have them on sale.
I think I will really like the blades. @FaceScraper Bruce was raving about them so when I saw them on sale I bought 100 of them along with some RR aftershave that was on sale.
Hope you feel better, Clint. I was always confounded about whether to go to work while sick. Working from home was not encouraged in those days, but showing up and working extra hours always was. There's no telling how much sickness spread via door knobs, stair railing, and coffee pot handles at work. I'm glad times have changed in that regard, with some people being able to work from home now when needed. Good on you for staying home today and hopefully taking it a bit easy.
Tuesday, August 22 Eufros Tobacco~~Semogue 2012 SE Mistura~~Gillette New LC/Voskhod I am getting slow posting my afternoon shaves in a timely fashion. Decided to move the Eufros into my Aesop SS bowl. Makes for some OUTSTANDING, built "on the puck" lather.
Thank you guys. The folks I work closely with are a little older than me. One has several medical procedure coming up in the next two weeks so he does not want to be contaminated. Covid certainly changed the views on coming into work sick. I am almost as productive at home as I am in the office. I do know the pups are glad I am working from home today.
