    Thanks Joe. I don’t know if I can get a better edge on this razor, but I will try. The first time that I brought it to the films it was just ok like it was today. If it does not work out, then I will use it as a less than 24 hr stubble shaver. I presently have 2 razors to hone. This one and the King Cutter.

    Hey Gary. If those blades work for you, then that's great. Although I haven't tried all the popular blades. I think that I can shave with any one of them with no problem and I think you probably can do the same.

    Wednesday August 30 (very very early morning) - Allegedly Adjustable, Almost-All-Sample August

    Prep: Cool water face wash with Cetaphil face cleanser
    Razor: Supply 2.0 injector with SE comb plate / Schick Plus Platinum (vintage US-made)(1)
    Brush: Semogue SOC cherrywood fitted with APShaveCo 24mm Tuxedo synthetic knot
    Soap: La Toja shaving cream
    Post: rinse, alum, rinse
    Last Shave: Sunday afternoon - 60 hours ago

    I took a break from shaving with samples to use my Spanish La Toja mineral salt infused shaving cream. La Toja is, I believe, an historic Spanish hot springs spa. The shaving cream has been made for decades using the spa water for its skin healing properties. La Toja only comes in one scent - a simple, clean, mineral springs smell. It is an excellent shaving cream with good protective qualities for shaving and one that really does help those with oily skin.

    And, unfortunately, a shave product that is no longer being made -- the EU conglomerate owning the La Toja brand stopped making the shaving cream earlier this year. If you see any still available anywhere, it is well worth getting.

    Today's shave was uneventful. Two passes brought me to a near BBS. The vintage US-made Schick blades are razor sharp and long-lasting -- much nicer than most of the ones currently on the market. Today's blade was no exception on its first outing. It wiped away my stubble as if it was just wiping off soap.

    Alum was completely silent. I didn't bother with any post-shave products.

    Hope everyone has had an excellent week so far!

    (Artisan August)

    1 day growth pre work shave

    30 Aug 2023.jpg

    Prep = CWR 30s x 3, Proraso preshave again
    Soap = Sterling Black Cherry, digging into another sample first time out, nice sweet fruity scent
    Brush = Omega 49
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Gillette Tech aluminium
    Blade = Gillette Platinum (2)
    Passes = usual 3 passes + touch ups
    Post = CWR, Alum, CWR, Thayers’, Sterling Bay Rum stung but only for a minute
    Damage = Minor weeper under the chin only became apparent during the clean up, cold water dealt with that

    Score = 9/10 back on track thanks to the Sterling!
    Comments = So, how come the Sterling lathers up perfectly first time and the MWF doesn’t?
    Could the consistency of the MWF go ‘off’ after a while for some reason?

    Have a great Wednesday everyone

    Great shave and pic, Chris.

    My personal theory about the reason Stirling is a consistent good latherer while MWF isn't .... It's because Stirling is a better shave soap.

    Dscosmetics AX-SE Zinc razor head with 1.35mm plate.
    Timeless Razor Crown Titanium handle.
    Astra SP blade.
    Simpson T3 Trafalgar synthetic brush.
    Simpsons Shaving Cream.
    Timeless Razor shave bowl.
    Irish Chestnut by Andy Hilfiger cologne.

    Awesome shave this morning and the 1.35mm plate was smooth sailing. It was very efficient and I like it better than the 1.15mm plate.

    This little Zinc head is very impressive. Does it shave as good as the Tatara Masamune? Sad to say but it is close.

    Happy Wednesday everyone!

    Their soaps are all good performers, although I like some scents better than others. If you want to try something with that little extra in glide and post-shave skin feel though, I suggest you give one of Stirling's mutton tallow soaps a shot.

    Reminds me, I need to dig out my Stirling soaps and give them a whirl. Hmmm, maybe I will do a "Stirling September" later this week with my mutton tallow and lanolin tub of Stirling Scots Pine Sheep...
