There are few fellows who make adapters for the older Gem type to modern handles. The DE razor modern day handles use mostly M5 Diam X.8o mm pitch and the old Gems have some odd ball threads, some are 10-32 thread and some of even older ones are a different thread that are not made anymore but can be bastard sized with some kind of close thread.
@GAW9576 might be able to help you out because he use to make adaptor threads for the older Gems to DE handles.

As some of you know, I like to make custom handles on my favorite razors. The following pics are two of them. The first, Gem 1912, is made by cutting down an original handle, easy to find, and epoxying it to a rifle case, with weight added. The second one, Ever-Ready 1914 Little Lather Catcher, is from @Jayaruh, his prototype I think, but I filled in the grooves. I found a screw that fits the razor head, screwed it into the handle, and cut off the excess, which can also be made for the Gem 1912..........

I have to find my caliper to measure as it was long enough ago that I don't remember which ones I ordered. Don't go too short as you need enough room to stay in the handle and the treads in the razor head as well. The ones i got work well enough, but one size longer would probably be easier when changing handles.

Ordered a vintage Everready to make a frankenrazor. In the meantime, I ordered a modern SE head, Half DE head, and an AC head. Hopefully they work out as well. 1693239383216.jpg

Thanks to a @GAW9576 I secretly obtained some most excellent adapters to use for my Everready Shovelhead. The adapter used to hold the razor head to my knock-off Merkur 23c handle. It is a little shorter than the other two pictured and was needed for this handle. I prefer the long thin handles for head shaves. The heavier handle pictured is the size I prefer for face shaves. The smaller handle is the original handle for the razor. I'll be using the razor for the first time for the head shave tomorrow, my first head shave using a Gem type blade. I have used DE, half DE, AC, and injector. I'll post how it compares.

Shovelhead shave not good. I got only a little into it and realized it wasn't going to work and had to go to an old stand-by. It could be the blade as it wasn't the normal one I use. I'll have to revisit it. I could try my Shield Gem type next time for comparison.

Tried the Shield/Boti Gem type. Worked well just as the Shield/Boti half DE, and AC. I only use these for head shaving. DE razors only for face/neck. No problems with the exposed edges. I was having trouble pairing a handle with it at first as it has to fit inside a circular slot within the razor head. Not an issue with the half DE or AC. Thank heavens the problem wasn't with the threading as I was first suspecting. It is a Rapira handle. Ultimately, I like the three offerings from this company equally but a slight edge goes to the AC as the blades I feel are better. I also tried a new shaving gel. Goes on very thin/slick, virtually no odor or residue. Does not lather. Pics.

I have one of those boxes sitting right here on my desk with an as-yet unused Shield DE. My guess is that the boxes are sourced from a company that makes them for hand-sanitizing wipes.

I know it's a secret, but any hint where one might buy those adapters?
    :thanks:

Darn that GAW9576. He easily set me up with his magic adapters. Look at the craziness that can get in the way! I bet you can’t spot the razor head with his handle converter eh? And yes. That isn’t a great match. But great fun.

I first read about them at this great site (mentioned above) on historic razors … https://razors.page/Handles/
