Thanks Gary. I didn't realize that the doors were uneven when I started to shave. I have to press on the doors when I lock the razor so that the one door doesn't pop up. It's why I don't use this Slim as often as my other razors. I should have sent it back to Razor Emporium when I bought it years ago. Now, if I send it to them to fix it, then I am sure that will have to pay for it because of the time that has passed.

Gentlemen, I’m impressed by everyone’s stamina with maintaining the thread. You do it all the time, but it’s new to me. I’ve fallen behind. These are my last two SEptember shaves.

The Asylum Injector has become an almost autopilot razor for me at this point. I’m using up a pack of 7 sChick blades. I think there’s one remaining in the dispenser. The blade in the razor has only three shaves on it, so it’ll get me through another three before it needs to be binned. Unsure which Japanese Schick blade to use after these yellow pack blades are finished. Maybe Prolines, maybe the keyed dispenser. We’ll let the moment decides when it arrives.

The Asylum Injector is an interesting tool. It wants me to do two, often three passes. With some DEs I can pretty easily achieve a socially acceptable result with just one pass. I don’t do it often, but it is an easily achievable objective if necessary. Not so with this injector. It’s a take-it-down-in-multiple-passes razor. I’m afraid that were I to attempt a one pass SAS the resulting irritation wouldn’t be worth the effort. But dagnabbit, if used as it wants, goodlordylou what a beautiful shave!

My next shave was Thursday afternoon with the MMOC. I’m definitely learning to use this bad boy. That’s a good thing. I’m enjoying it more than I ever have. My mistake was being overly cocky on my second pass. I was going for close. But too much pressure on the right cheek and I knew right away there’d be some irritation. You couldn’t see it, but brothers and sisters, I felt it. Especially upon completion. The alum sting was eye opening! You know what? When it happens once in a blue moon, I actually like that stinging feeling. Fortunately my technique is such that it happens very infrequently. The Snake Bite splash is great for that, too. Frankly I wish it had more “bite.”

Bottom line assessment was a very (very) close and smooth shave with just that one foolish error on my right cheek. It’s Sunday morning now, and I haven’t shaved since. I could, but won’t until tomorrow.

So what did I learn from this shave? Just what I learned as a novice. Less pressure is better, and let the razor do the work. Then head on over to Carnegie Hall ;)

The SV OC delivered another fine shave today. In fact it delivered two single pass shaves in the last 18 hours. Had a date last night and then had an event this morning.

Prep: Shower and wash my face
    Lather: Bigelow
    Brush: Synthetic
    Razor: SV OC
Blade: Astra (shaves 5 and 6)
Post: cold water rinse and TSD Lime

I have 2 C-Mon straight razors and this is the larger one. I got a great deal on both these razors and were shave ready when I got them. This razor is very sharp and I need to be on my A+ game to avoid any blood leaving my person. Lol! However, I like this razor a lot and should use it more frequently.

I have extolled the virtues of the soap ad nauseum so I won't continue to do so. This picture of today's lather says it all.

I only did 2 passes because of this razor's sharpness. I didn't get a BBS, but it was close to it. I just didn't need to chase it. The alum feedback was there, but it was not terrible. Splashed on the witch hazel and the matching aftershave to top the shave. Have a great day.
