  4. Thanks John. In all fairness, I can get by on a 2 pass straight razor shave with my day old stubble. Lately, I have been doing 3 passes because of pure enjoyment and not of necessity. Today, the 4th pass served to see if my skin can handle it as well as not wasting the lather.
  5. I appreciate you and your shave pics Gary.
  6. thank you Joe.in reality no one asks my opinion about gillette shaves these days, they are 90% the same, they have served millions of shavers for generations.i am but a cog in the machine.but... if i can help one realise the crookery in cart shaving i have succeeded..
:):eatdrink047:.i love my choices with my shave gear..:):eatdrink047:
  7. Glad the players appreciate you despite today's questionable shave...

I think the alum bar was one of the best additions I ever made to my shave gear. It points up exactly where I have pressed too hard or overshaved, shortstops any small bleeding, and also helps dry up oily skin.

  8. Thanks John.

It is good soap. I have several samples and ended up ordering a tub of Smokeberry. Lakewood Soap will not disappoint.
  9. Yes, I am a lefty. Btw, I also cheat -- if you look at my photo, that thicker section on the handle of the razor is a slip-on silicone grip. The razor now has a rubber grip rather than a metal one, so it doesn't really matter how wet or soapy my hand is, it's not going to slip. ;)
  10. Thanks for the info. I can now add Lakewood Soap to my list of good shave soap makers to replace my old favourites that have fallen by the wayside.
  11. Thanks, Gary. I appreciate you saying nice things about my uninspired and often slightly out of focus photos. Especially since yours are now so crisp and beautifully composed!

And I don't think we can ever have too many people singing the praises of the old Gillette Techs (or the new Gillette DE razor) in contrast to the over-bladed and overly expensive (and environmentally unfriendly overplasticked) cartridge garbage... So Sing It, Brother!!!
  12. thank you my friend.:):eatdrink047:cheers.
  13. 5 years ago, I was still using carts and came late to the traditional wetshaving party. I wish that I would have come to shaving this way much earlier in life. I feel sorry for those people who are still using carts.
  14. I recently used my sample of Lakewood Lard Lass soap that was given to me by Joe Carbone. @JACarbone Thanks again Joe. I highly recommend this brand. It is easy to lather and quite slick.

    Prep: shower
    Lather: Bigelow
    Brush: Synthetic
    Razor: SV OC
    Blade: Personna
Post: Alum block and TSD Lime

First time using alum block. No surprise having a little sting in the neck but otherwise no sensation at all. Also first time in years with Personna blade. It was smooth but not quite on par with Astra for my face.
