Excellent shave Troy. The alum block is great to help you tighten up your technique because the feedback will tell you if you angle or pressure was not correct. Enjoy your day.

Good shave this morning. The Stoylin brush showed how much of a "soap magnet" it is. The Fine Latigo has a nice scent to it. Leather, but more relaxing than that of, say, Minsk(RUS)or even Ft. Worth(Texas). Course Latigo is a dupe of Knize 10 from Austria. The brand will celebrate its 100th birthday in two years. 1 cut, 1 Knick(both at the midpoint of South Porcupine)and zero Polka-dots. As I like to say, the cold-water rinse and Latigo aftershave calmed things down. Clean and clear everywhere else. 2 passes. Closed with AB Millionaire cologne. Pretty Oustanding. Back to same arsenal tomorrow.

And now I figured out why I'm wrong to say the Latigo aftershave should be a "21st Century"brand, along with the Latigo soap. The Latigo soap is, as I say, one of Fine's "newer" products, whereas the aftershave dupes the Knize 10 which, as I say, began in 1925. Hope that makes sense.

Two fantastic shaves the past two mornings. Both razors delivered a close and comfortable shave with little irritation.

The Calle Ocho soap has nine shaves left before meeting up with the Edmund Fitzgerald. Its demise will occur during the first week of October. Once again, I receive . its demise will occur during the first week of October. Once again I received a thick and slick lather from this soap.

I have a few weeks to plan for which soap will be up next for the Edmund Fitzgerald treatment. Additionally, I have begun to formulate a plan of attack for the month of October. Part of my plan may include OUDtober and Obscuretober which Joe,@Trigger, might want to incorporate into his introduction for his October opening. Obscuretober will consist of soaps that I have not been used in 2023, and are hiding in the back of my den.

Hope you all have a great day, gentlemen.

    Great shave and pic, Barry!

I assume the Wrights Coal Tar Bar soap is a rather old traditional brand?

    Great shave and photo, Troy!

I must confess that I am rather surprised you have never used an alum bar before this though. I thought everyone in the 30DC got converted to that within their first month...

You say you are really enjoying the Yaqi razor handles, but I must say that that is quite a striking handle on that brush too.

And the seashell background to your photo is interesting. Mainly old bleached clamshells but a couple small conch shells too, perhaps?

A fragrance dating back to 1925 should fit in perfectly with our sort of shaving gear!

    Wonderful looking shave setups.

I admire your ability to schedule the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald so accurately. Whenever I think a soap or cream is nearing its end, I'm lucky if I am able to guess within a dozen shaves or so.

A TOBS cream (Avocado) was my first "good" soap after canned goo and a puck of Williams (not a fan and I don't mourn its demise). The TOBS cream was a revelation and I enjoy using them to this day. Never had a bad shave from one -- at least, not on the part of the soap anyway.
