Sounds like a nice shave. Agreed, stubble is better than raw skin.

    SE Shave # 348

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Yaqi SE Chrome
    Blade: Perma-Sharp
Brush: Shore Shave Cool Mint Water 24 mm Synthetic
    Lather: Lather Bros. Calle Ocho
    Aftershave: Aqua Velva Musk
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Cool morning did not interfere with this morning’s wonderful shave. Another glorious lather session courtesy of the Calle Ocho and the Shore Shave Synthetic.

The Yagi SE razor, fitting with a half DE blade, easily mowed down my 26 hour growth. The post shave alum was silent which is always fantastic.

Here is a picture of hardware eye candy:

Iirc, Friday was my first full on DE shave this month (the Lupo DLC was stellar!) And still the SEptember shaves keep on coming! Well, almost… I’m still trying to figure out the whole 1/2 DE = SE thing. Shaves are getting better with George. I can’t be as heavy handed with it as a normal DE. I’m thinking that despite what seems to be solid clamping, the flex in the edge is due to the thinness of the blade, and when halved it loses 50% of its mass. Kind of supports the whole “a shim adds to mass of modern DE blades” theory a particular Mr. @Primotenore has previously postulated. Maybe I’ll snap an already shimmed blade and try a shim.

"If Man was meant to shave with only half a DE blade, it would have been made with just one edge." .... Oh wait, such a blade WAS invented - - it's called the injector. And isn't this interesting: the injector blade is roughly twice as thick as the DE blade and doesn't flex at all, so no shim is required to make it work properly. Maybe Col. Schick made it that way for a reason?

    Just saying.... ;)

Nice pic, setup and shave Charlie. Some razors have a different sweet spot where the shaving angle is a lot less than the conventional wisdom of 30 degrees. It takes multiple shaves to find it. SE razors are notorious for having a more acute angle to shave. Kudos for being persistent with George. Enjoy your day.

Slow and easy head and face shave with the SV Open Comb. I'd neglected my scalp this week a (normally shave it 2x weekly) so had quite a bit of stubble to deal with. The OC mowed it down quite well with 2 passes and touch up on the old bean then followed it with a very nice 2 pass face shave. I'm good for Saturday!

    Prep: Shower
    Lather: Bigelow
    Brush: Synthetic
    Razor: SV OC
Blade: Personna LB (3 shaves - 2 face and 1 head)
Post: Alum block and TSD Lime after a cold water rinse all around

The Personna blade did well and was retired following today's shave. Sunday's mean a new blade. I've exclusively used the synthetic brush for a couple of years now. It whips out a great slick lather while providing just a bit of scritch. I haven't used a badger brush for quite a while, no longer have a boar brush and my VL Horse sits in the bottom of the drawer.
