Thank you Chris...The la Toja is a vegan stick with a love/hate unique scent, which to my nose is a mild fresh, floral, mossy, woodsy, salty scent.(baby powder) also comes to mind..it lathers well though with a good post shave feel...Like all shaving products opinions are subjective...I also have the Vie-Long shave stick (tallow based) now no longer available I was lucky enough to buy two before they were discontinued.
Another very good shaving product gone forever.

Thanks John. I had the Fatboy on the max setting of nine and never had a problem. I will use the blade in the razor on the same setting for a face shave. These blades along with others were given to me in a raffle. I have never had a problem with blades so this is a first. I don't think the blade was a dud because it did shave a 3 day dome stubble without a problem except for the cuts. It may be that I need to have a lower setting when I use these blades. I am sure that I will find out why this rare occurrence happened on my dome. Thanks for your input John.

Yes thanks Terry, I found the cap a while ago, it's fine on the flats, just the convex bits that mean go slow

I do like the idea of using a fresh blade each day, one less variable
Hard water, I just add some citric acid to the basin also helps with the clean up esp with tallow soaps
I like the PC (which you don't recommend) comments! Can't say I wasn't warned!

    have a great day

    All good!
If your doing long strokes that might be an issue.
Shorter strokes help me aline the blade easier.
Kinda like laying brickes, small strokes front to back.
Then when your hand and arm do it like a reflex, shaving becomes more natural.

I found myself stretching the skin to tight too.
I needed to tighten the skin just enough to let the razor glide without stopping or bouncing, not stretching the skin.

Live... I mean, shave and learn.

    Good morning all.

    Today's shave.
    20230920_081444.jpg

A fine and wonderful shave to say the least.
The blade is in the razor. I can get 2 full shaves with these blades before they pull, tug and generally make for an uncomfortable chore.

I've disassembled, cleaned, dried then reassembled this tool for tomorrow's battle against big beard.

It's all out war I tell yah!

My newest weapon in this war of attrition is a heavily modified Razorock Blackhawk with a Feather super pro blade.

Although today's battle has been won, the war continues.
Next attack, tomorrow just before dawn.
    :transport024:
After breakfast and coffee, of course.

With your tough beard, you have to go full force to hit it. Kudos to you Terry. Enjoy your day.

Good shave to put aside the Hub City PAGES until next time. Clean and clear all around(which included finshing off that tough ride sideburn area just a second ago). There WAS a polka-dot, at the NW corner of South Porcupine(next to lower lip), but it's painless. I shook the aftershave and that helped get rid of the Sioy Sauce-Medicine persuasion. Glad to have this PAGES. Very Outstanding.

Razor: AJ Jordan Old Faithful Cocolobo scales
Brush: Hembree Derlin Paragon Boar 25 mm
    Lather: PAA Meta Nectar
Aftershave: PAA Meta Nectar Star Jelly
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel

Well I have not used the PAA Meta Nectar in quite a while. Just too many soaps is the only reason. The scent profile is a follows: “A complex blend of Orange Blossom, Honey, and Vanilla; manly and mystical. Other supporting notes include: Palmarosa, Gurjum Balsam, Patchouli, Bergamot & Cedarwood.”
    Outstanding!

The AJ Jordan straight delivers a close and error free three pass shave. The post alum was relatively non existent. The witch and balm left my feeling fantastic.

I spent the remainder of my morning and early afternoon taking my mother on a series of errands. Always a “good time” as you just never know what may stumble out of her mouth. :signs002:

Hope you all are having a great day.

Sounded like a nice shave. Sometimes user error or lack of user focus can dampen what would have been a really nice shave. All part of the learning process.

  20. Screwtape

    Screwtape A Shaving Butterfly

That is an unusual scent combo, isn't it? I don't recall ever seeing pomegranate in a shaving soap or splash before.
