Looks like a lovely vintage Schick, Troy. And sounds like a great shave!

I see you went with "Chicks" for your injector blades. Always a solid choice.

    Great shaves, gents!

I have been debating the Crown Shaving Co shave cream and tonic combo like you have there, Gary. Is it worth getting?

Yes sir, nice stuff.a simplistic shaver could use it excusively and do just fine.cream is spearmint scented, very slick, aftershave is barbershoppy with licorice tones..:):eatdrink047:

I decided to repeat shaves this month. Only difference with this shave was I added the tonic at the end.

After my last two "blood spot" shaves, I changed my "slathering" technique this time. Instead of rubbing cream on my face and then on my neck in two separate operations (possibly leading to a missed strip of skin between the two right on the underside of my chin), I took a generous dollop of the cream and rubbed it over my face and then over my neck in one continuous downward tending motion. No missed spots.

I also changed my shaving passes. My usual pattern is WTG on the face and ATG on the neck. This time, I went WTG all over. That was all I really needed for a DFS. However, I decided to do a second pass.

After my last attempt to do a light buffing pass without relathering ended with a very large and visible razorburn patch on the right side of my neck, this time, I took a fresh dollop of cream and re-slathered. Again, I slathered by doing face and neck in one continuous action.

My second pass was XTG everywhere. I avoided ATG on my neck entirely today.

The result was silent alum and - so far- no blood spots.

In keeping with my "skin clearing" theme, I finished with a splash of the PGS Willow toner. The black willow bark extract in it contains salicylic acid, which is well known for its astringent properties.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Awesome shave John. Your shaving strategy was perfect in avoiding blood being released and your irritation being increased.

Thank you Gary. This is the only software I have of his. I get great lathers with a nice scent that I get whiffs throughout the day. I have to pick up another of his at some ooont. Must support the local Long Islander.

Thanks Joe. I had to get back on the horse and use that aggressive razor to shave my dome.

Here is a video of Don Youngner doing a shave. He owns Wet the Face. I would move the time to 3:30 to see how he puts the soap in his bowl and then lathers.

    It's all your fault, Gary!

Thanks to your enabling, I just went to the Italian Barber site and made my first shaving-related purchase in years - the Crown Shaving Co shaving cream and the soothing lotion (I picked it instead of the tonic because I liked the ingredient list better). And then I added a Proraso styptic gel because I seem to need styptic products lately and my old styptic pencils have gotten battered to pieces over the years ... And a nice travel case for razors because it looked cool (browsing is always dangerous on shopping websites...).

And I was doing so well at not buying more shaving products...
