    I was due for a headshave and decided to go with the aggressive Dollar Tree Razor.
    For my face shave I went with my smaller C-Mon razor. This razor is wicked sharp because I honed it awhile back on my films. I needed to be on my A+ game with this one. Of course, I picked my favorite lavender soap for my shaves. I could have used more soap, but I wanted the lather to be really thin to see if the slickness was still good for shaving. I have to say yes. Here's my lather:

    Did 2 passes on my face and dome for a close comfortable shave on my face and cueball smooth on my dome. Did my usual post shave ritual to end my shave. Take care.

    Neat shave, Gary! I agree that Jeeves of Hudson Street made great products and had some great scents. Too bad he is no longer in the shaving products business...

    Thanks, Joe! Doing an informal Focus this month with the skin-clearing products has been unexpectedly rewarding: My skin is better from the repeated product use. But in addition, I have finally figured out how to use latherless shaving gels properly and in that process also may have developed a better shaving stroke pattern that will be equally effective in removing whiskers while causing less skin irritation.

    That's awesome John! You caught onto the major tenet of this thread and that is to do a focus so that you improve your technique. Glad to see you conquered the latherless shaving gel. It's unfortunate there have been some shavers who have been given great advice on this thread and chose to ignore it. And then they wonder why they have crappy shaves while thinking they had a great shave. SMH.

    29 Sep 2023 (Sterling, Synthetic, Sample, Single Edge)

    25 hours, another successful SE day with my Schick E3

    Prep = Cold Water Prep, Proraso Pre shave
    Soap / Cream = Sample Sterling Barber Shop
    Brush = Razorock Plissoft
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Schick SE
    Blade = Personna Injector PTFE (day 9)
    Passes = 3 +
    Post = Usual CWR, alum, CWR, Rinfrescante
    Scent = Proraso Vetyver Cologne
    Damage = none
    Leftovers = nemesis zone 8...
    Score = 9 / 10

    Comments = On Day 9 the blade is definitely getting draggy, needing too many strokes to get a clean shave. Will bin this next time I swap out my blade in this Schick E3. It's a really lovely razor, light and well balanced and easy to follow the curves with around the jaw. It remains to be seen if the same applies with a fresh blade though…
    My other thought is that it is easier to ride the cap than some of my SE razors which have very curved caps. The Schick cap is flat so it’s dead easy to go from cap only and no blade bite, to finding the edge of the blade

    By the way, @Trigger, in the spirit of the thread: I have mentioned my Zone 8 before...my Zone 8 is where all the swirly bits are…

    (Zone 5 is mainly ear to nose or North to South within each pass. So not a pure WTG. ATG is nose to ear and/or S-N
    Zone 6 is over the jawline needing me to open the jaw to flatten this area, mainly N-S, with ATG being mainly S-N
    Zone 7 is under the jaw, the growth is mainly down and back, easy enough to scoop in a backwards curve for WTG, reverse for ATG)

    Zone 8 is every which way but loose, up down, left, right, and overlapping the Adams apple (which is my Zone 12), needing multidirectional buffing, skin stretching, bull frogging and swallow and holds...tricky on my skinny neck but rewarding nevertheless

    zones Avatar tenth.jpg

    The zones do overlap, but each zone gets tackled separately in each pass

    Thanks Joe, the Schick E3 is a worthy encore performer

    Hard to think of you being a newbie at some stage Joe!
    Thanks Gary

    Thanks Joe, I have learnt a lot from this thread and the rest of the TSD contributors

    Excellent shave Chris! I appreciate that you explained your zones, but I knew that barbers are trained to divide the face in those sections. In fact, the zone map can be downloaded so that one can see where the zones are located. Thank you again.
