    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: ERN 1820 5/8”
Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket 26 mm
    Lather: Catie’s Bubbles Vintage
    Aftershave: Catie’s Bubbles Vintage
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Another wet and dreary day on LI. Over all, my neck of the woods faired much better than western Nassau and the boroughs of NYC. Yes, periodically Mother Nature remind us of who is really in charge.

I decided to go with the CB Vintage soap and splash. Looking at my records, I have not shaved with this software in 2023. Simple reason: Too many soaps. I will definitely make a concerted effort to us it more often in the upcoming months.

The scent profile is as follows: “The blend of light citrus and florals with a stout bottom end of moss, musks, wood, and amber create a wonderful woody, suede scent with a bit of sparkle.”.

The Ern straight easily took care of this morning’s growth with the customary three passes. The end result was a close and comfortable shave. I varied my post shave with the unscented balm by adding a drop of the aftershave prior to applying to my face and neck. I like the effect which means that I will incorporate this more often.

    Have a great day gentlemen.

I am going out this evening to listen to a jazz duo. I have heard them before so I know their quality of musicianship. So I need a shave.
Decided to end September with my Henckels Friodur. It's on its 40th shave since I honed it awhile back and it's still sharp without a refresh.
Of course, I picked out the Stirling Spice set for tonight's venue.
    Here's my lather:

I did three passes for a smooth and comfortable shave. The alum feedback was slight on my left lower neck. This was a great shave without any red showing anywhere. Unfortunately, I am a little bummed because the knot fell out of the handle.:angry017:

That's not the way to end the month.
Splashed and spritzed on the witch hazel, aftershave and the Eau dE Toilette, respectively. Take care.

  8. Guess you need to get some epoxy. I have had that happen with my Jayaruh #381 badger-boar brush. Good looking shave to say the least.

  9. Thanks Joe. The ferrule and inside the handle had very little remnants of the adhesive JR used. My guess is that he used inexpensive adhesive based on our brush mishaps. Oh well, at least I have experience placing a knot in a handle via Danny's brush.

  12. Howdy :) The last week of SEptember was non-stop busy busy busy! I had some great shaves, and wanted to share with you fine gents. SEptember 2023 was my best one yet! I adopted two new razors and rediscovered the brilliance of Gem Micro Matics. New to me this month was a repurchase of a MMBT which I never should have let go all those years ago, and a 1/2 DE Titanium SE by Shield. It’s actually a pretty good shaver, albeit something of a novelty. That said, I dig it and am glad to have it in the den. I used a DE razor only twice all month. Both shaves were with the outstanding Razorock Lupo DLC. This was fun, and now I’m looking forward to OCtober ;)

  14. Thanks, Gary. I have six, well, five and a half open comb razors not counting the Merkur that’s up for PIF; an Old Type pocket set, a NEW LC replate, a FaTip Piccolo, a MMOC, an iKon OC short comb DLC, and an iKon B1OSS. They’re all enjoyable shavers. I won’t decide which one will get the first call until my first shave of the month. Likely tomorrow ;)
