  3. So, the finish on the Toggle is pretty pitted on the handle, but the head and doors appear to be pristine. I will shave with it tomorrow, but am thinking of a replate. Any suggestions? I figure I'll have about $500 in the razor if I do replate it, but I think its worth it.

  5. It's really your call to replate it or not Troy. If you are going to replace, then I woulddo some research as to who does qualify work and for a reasonable price. I know Razor Emporium does plating. I have a slim adjustable that they plated and they did a fine job. I bought it a few years ago and the price included plating so I can't give you a number on it.

  7. I'm actually watching a Razor Emporium video right now.
  8. i have heard that some replaters won't touch toggles due to the pitting damage.especially if it's pitted where the toggle rubs the lower handle.or i could be totally out to lunch.Back Roads Gold is a great plater.or you could try Razor Emporium.

  9. Back Roads Gold does not replate Toggles. But thank you for the insight!
  10. I’ve entrusted two firms with replates. One in particular, Chris Evatt/RazorPlate, does exceptional work. Chris has restored four razors for me over the years. I trust him completely. Unfortunately for @Troy M in this case, Chris states on his website that he does not work on Toggles.

    MMOC / GEM PTFE (10)
Elite Razor spiny oyster Lotus with 26mm 2 bands of face feel awesomeness!
Fine Accoutrements Snake Bite triple milled shave soap, the never ending 3017…
Cold water rinse followed by Bloc Osma (the one and only) alum bar
Fine Accoutrements Snake Bite aftershave splash
    LEA Classic aftershave splash
Fine Accoutrements Snake Bite aftershave splash

Bottom line, three passes for a fantastic WAS. Thirteen hours later, and I’m still clean with just a hint of stubble. Tomorrow’s shaping up to be a hectic day, so this close shave will have to do me good until Wednesday.

This MMOC is the most pristine original example of razor grooviness in my den. One or two itty bitty, teeny weeny little blemishes, but otherwise Mint. It shaves real good. Real good. But it’s so minty, I almost don’t want to use it. Perhaps a backup is in order…

It was the tenth time out for the blade. I got a great shave, but the alum sting surprised me. When I finished shave 7 I remarked to myself, that the blade was as good as it was on 4 and 5. Even shave 8 was totally great. But by shave 9, things weren’t so fine. Shave 10? Never again! Lesson learned. The LEA splash is very soothing in addition to smelling great! The Snake Bite soap is just indomitable. I’m hoping to use it up by Halloween. And as a matter of fact, the Bob Quinn brush is sooo good, it’s scary! Yes, I know. Too early.

  16. Well, it looks like I am going to Pasteur's Octoberfest Meetup on Sat. Oct 21.
I have an account with them and so they invited me to join in the fun. It's a free event (no entrance fee), but you have to sign up for the free pass. Thankfully, I can take the train into NYC. I am looking forward to finally be able to visit this mecca for traditional wetshavers.
