    SRS # 970 - OUDtober Shave - Wholly Kaw

    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: Drew Dick 7/8” Half Hollow Damascus
    Brush: JTSpartan Boar 24 mm
Lather: Wholly Kaw King of Oud
Aftershave: Wholly Kaw King of Oud
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Outstanding shave this morning with my first custom razor. The Drew Dick Damascus is a fine piece of craftsmanship. Paired with the Wholly Kaw King of Oud software I was rewarded with a super smooth and comfortable shave. Three passes to shave Nirvana.

As I near the Edmund Fitzgerald of the Calle Ocho, I have to decide the next candidate for the 1508.5 Project. I enjoy the scent of this software, so one might consider using sparingly just to have it in the den longer. The scent profile is as follows: “King of Oud combines the freshness of Bergamot and scents of Rose and Pink Pepper sitting on a bed of Oud, Patchouli and Vetiver for a fragrance that is both fresh and richly aromatic. However, with only 61 grams left in the puck, I might be able to finish it prior to the end of the year. Would I want to repurchase the soap? While tempting but at almost $30 for the tallow version, nah. Perhaps the vegan version might be considered. Would I purchase the aftershave? Yes.

Hope you all have a great day gentlemen.

  6. Great shave this morning, in a near repeat of Tuesday's action. I'm now convinced that my DisposeABLE razors can go for 4 passes)2 shaves)and still be OK at the 4th. Clean and fresh all around. 2 passes. I was afraid at one point at South Porcupine(chin) as I felt a bump, but turned out to be harmless. Goose-eggs across the board for cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots. Osage for the A.S, and I closed with AB MillionaireMen cologne. As Outstanding As It Gets.

iKon B1 OSS on an Asylum Rx handle (first release)
    Personna Platinum Chrome (1)
    Zenith olivewood, unbleached (greatgoogalymoogaly!)
    Snake Bite 3X milled soap
Snake Bite / Swiss Pitralon splashup

It seems that combination razor heads don’t find mass appeal. I’ve had two, both iKons. I know there are other, more expensive options, but I’m not in a hurry to try any others at the moment. This one is cool. Shaves better, imo than the aluminum version by the same company. The Asylum handle is good looking and feels good in hand. It’s from the first run Phil did a few years back, i.e., sans logo on the butt. I’ll do a side by side comparison later today… The IP blade is always great first time out. I palm strop each edge six times.

This particular Zenith knot is perhaps my favorite bristle knot. It’s just awesome!! Big love for this brush, and highly recommended! The only vendor I’m aware of is Your Shaving dot com.

Snake Bite, Snake Bite. And a splash of Swiss Pit ;)

Another iKon head, the short comb B1 coated. I dig this on the Weber Wave handle. Holy smokes, what a solid combo! The Personna blade was okay, but tbh I should’ve tossed it after one. A bit of sting with the alum block. This is the same brush as above, but obviously with an acrylic (?) handle. Y’know what? The other knot is just a wee bit “better” (whatever that means). Snake Bite soap and Frost Byte splash to finish.

    Happy OCtober, Everyone!

    Shavette Shave # 495

Gillette Wilkinson Sword 1/2 DE (fresh)
    MrEE LE #10 Cashmere Brush
Angora Soaps Midnight Lavender SS and AS Stirling Alum Block
    Modessa Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 23 hrs.

This is the last shavette Shave for this week so I decided to use a fresh blade. The old blade had 5 shaves on it so it needed to be changed. Here's my lather:

    20231004_164156.jpg

Did 3 passes for a BBS result, but got a microweep on my chin. No biggie because it disappeared with the alum. Did get some stinging and that was to be expected with a new blade. Finished the shave with my usual routine. Take care.
