Beautiful sunny and cool Sunday morning in the ‘burgh. (Pittsburgh). Today marks my first use of the Tres Matres soap this year therefore it meets the qualifications for an Obscuretober (soap in the back of the den that has not made an appearance in 2023). The scent of the soap is as follows: “Amber, Oakmoss, Damp Earth, Rosewood, Lavender, Almond, Calla lily, Cotton, Aldehydes, Grapefruit, Ginger, Ambergris, Ozone, Peach.” The soap provided a nice slick lather, albeit on the thinner side.

An interesting side notes is that the artisan of the soap, Steve Joyner, is also the individual that made my Dogwood Handcrafts shaving brush.

The Yaqi razor with the Shark Platinum blade deliver a super close and irritation free shave.
I am now ready for an interesting afternoon of football with the AFC Central Division Racens and Steelers doing battle on the gridiron.

Same set-up this month - OC SV, Personna blade, Bigelow green, synthetic brush, alum and then in a change and nod to my gal, Old Spice. Simple 2 pass scalp shave and my head is cueball smooth.

I went with my other Dovo razor. This was my 2nd straight razor purchase.
It did well today. As you know, I enjoy this soap's earthy Lavender scent and it does lather well. Here's my lather:



I only needed 2 passes to have a comfortable, smooth shave without any problems. Had a little alum feedback, but it was tolerable. Splashed on the witch hazel and the wonderful matching aftershave to end this session. Take care.

Undecided on what set up for the day, the last few shaves have been going so well I couldn’t resist carrying on with my focus a bit more

Same Hardware and software except for fresh Voskhod blade

I am getting to the end of the Barbershop it should be finished in the next 3 or 4 days

The Voskhod again performed well, but today it didn’t quite match the sharpness I remember in the Feather

No damage, super smooth start to the week.

Chris, I don't blame you for constantly using that setup because it's a good one.
As you know, Feather is deemed the sharpest blade by the wet shaving community. However, I found the Voskhod blades deceptively sharp, but smoother.

Hi and thanks Joe, that is interesting, I remember just a few days ago I found all these blades quite similar, so there must some bias in my observation here, or some other factor at play

Anyway I think my technique is improving to the point that I am confident enough to try some different blades I have accumulated and not be too stressed about shedding some of red stuff!

Pretty good shave this morning. Cheeks&sideburns were great, along with North Porcpine. from S. Porcupine on down, not so. I spent more time on a North to South motion, ands it should have been the other way around. Too much astroturf left down there. Will go S-N everywhere tomorrow. Thing is, I really thought I did well, but learned I was wrong. 2 passes. No cuts,, p;olka-dots, 1 Knick(jawlinem right side). Nice work with the Agadir A.S. and AB Millionaire cologne. Pretty Outstanding.

I believe it takes blood, sweat and tears to improve our techniques. Lol!

It's Columbus Day here in the U.S. so I decided to follow Joe Carbone's @JACarbone lead and use the Italian soap Cella. In case anyone is interested or forgot, I am Italian/Sicilian descent. However, I am not always decent. Lol.

Cella has the almond/cherry scent that just readily comes off the puck. Unfortunately, the scent from my pick is gone, but it still makes a great lather. Here's my lather:



I could have called the shave after one pass because this blade knocked out my stubble without any problem. Of course, it only had one shave prior so it was still super sharp.
So, I did three passes for a blood-free and irritation-free BBS result.

The alum feedback was nada. Witch hazel was generously applied. Splashed on the Pinaud-Clubman Classic aftershave to finish this super fine shave. Take care.

Travel day shave which featured Cella Crema da Barba. I have had this soap for approximately 5 years. The scent has not totally diminished and the performance is still what we all have come to expect from Cella.

I did my usual three pass shave. While the shave was close it did not provide the closeness I usually receive with the Shark Platinum blades, even on the 5th shave. Naturally, the blade was binned.

Not the drink of course but the Calle Ocho.
