Ever think about selling your collection?

Every once in a while I think about selling my entire collection of razors.

I probably won't, but the thought does cross my mind.

Anyone else get this thought now and again?

Never, but I have a fear that I may be in the position where I may HAVE to someday.

 

Yeah. All my razors are shavers. But there are just a few that I really love.

 

I don't have anything pretty enough to sell. I think I may have 3 or 4 razors that I could sell if I had too.

 

Perhaps I should elaborate on my "nope" answer. I would, and have sold razors in order to fund another one that I really wanted but could not afford, but I consider that tuning my collection, rather than selling it off. Sometimes a few razors need to go to make room for something special. Selling it off just to sell it, I just couldn't.

 

Not really. Every razor I have I bought with the intention of measuring it against others - only two winners will be kept and the rest will be sold, given away, or traded for food. So I guess I don't really consider it a collection since it is not for collecting's sake

 

Even if I wanted to I don't think that it's a sellers market right now.
Nice Fatboys were selling for $40+ now are selling for $20.
Mint and rare examples will always be in demand but there's a glut of nice users out there.

 

I agree... if I were to do it I'd wait until after the holidays when everyone has 'Christmas money'.

Maybe the thought is crossing my mind because it would help pay for the antenna setup I need for my mobile HAM radio.

 

Or if you can hold out, until Obama's planned money giveaway! (you know, just like the one Bush held last summer)

 

Not only did I think about it, I did sell 90% of my (safety-) razor collection once.

 

Yeah, sometimes I think about scaling back my collection to the essentials. I will eventually, I know, because I keep considering it. I just haven't finalized the "cut line" yet.

 

It's also kind of musty smelling stuff... must be the cases?

 

I think it would depend on how large your collection is. Mine is relatively small and I like everything therein. Wouldn't sell a thing at this point, but maybe down the road....??

 

I can't think of a more noble reason that that!

EDIT: BTW, I wouldn't sell mine just yet. I only have two razors (both Super Speeds) and one of those belonged to my grandfather. I rotate between the two, but I'm thinking of getting a Merkur HD as a third razor.

 

I dont believe in keeping things beyond what I use.

 

I don't think of selling my collection, but my wife does. She's always asking which ones are the most expensive, so upon my demise, she can start listing them at eBay. I'm going to ruin her plan by stating in my will that I want to be buried with my razors.

 

My wife promised to me she'll buy me an Alfa Romeo if I sell all my shaving stuff, and just use one razor, brush, cream, or soap, and a/shave and edt. I said I don't like too much that car! :happy102 :happy102
