Thank you Joe. Not sure if it will inibot me from using my straights. I guess I can use the straight entirely with the left hand as I did following my shoulder surgery.

Excellent shave Barry. You just motivated me to bust out my FaTip for tomorrow given my injury. No straight razor shave until Tuesday at least.

My Cunning Plan to Titanic a soap this fall continues, so I am continuing to use the same setup and will until the Neutrogena shave cream tube is empty. I noticed today that the plastic tube is showing signs of being nearly empty...

Today's shave was one pass to get back to cleanshaven. Elapsed shave time was between three and five minutes. Then back to work...

Awesome shave Joe. Sorry about the slice on your finger. I have had to use towel on occasion to loosen my Dovo shavette insert because I have cut myself unloading a blade. Stuff happens.

Let me be more clear. Some people call shavettes a straight razor and others don't. I consider a shavette a non-traditional straight razor and that's why I label my shaves using a traditional straight vs a shavette ( non-traditional straight razor).
So after today's shave, I will have 498 traditional straight shaves and 498 shavette shaves. Total straight razor shaves or open blade shaves will be 996.

    Good afternoon.

    Straight Razor Shave #498
    7/8 J A Henckels Friodur
    Schick I-1 Injector Razor
    Personna Injector Blade (2)
    Hembree Delrin/Maggard Timberwolf Brush
    Stirling Alum Block
    Modessa Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 24 hrs
    Dome Turf: 3 days

I decided to do a headshave and a faceshave. I picked my mild Schick I-1 and my Henckels Friodur for the task. I chose Stirling Spice to brighten up my mood on this dreary Long Island afternoon. Here's my lather:

I only needed 2 passes to give me a nice, comfortable shave with my Friodur. However, I did get a microdot weep on my stache, but literally and figuratively it was no biggie. Although the Schick I-1 is a mild razor, it is quite efficient in taking down my 3 day Turf with minor pickups. I achieved a cueball smooth result without any bloodshed. The alum was minimal on my face and neck, but nada on my dome. Witch hazel and the matching aftershave was splashed on all areas to end this nice shave session. Take care.

Nice shave. Your lather always looks well whipped up and plentiful! And Stirling is always a good choice for a stellar shave.

Thank you John. Everyone has different standards for an acceptable lather. If you get a good shave, then your lather is fine. Personally, I take an extra minute or two to work my lather to the creamy consistency that I enjoy. My lathers are well hydrated which is very important when I use a straight razor. I learned that the lather is more slicker when the hydration is increased. Of course, you don't want to overhydrate the soap.
I used to be a face latherer until Joe @JACarbone gave me some samples and the only way to use them is to bowl lather. I find bowl lathering enjoyable and I just have to paint the lather without splaying the brush. Splaying a natural brush can cause irritation and therefore, it's another benefit of bowl lathering.

    Shaving Recipe for today.

Prep: Warm shower:/Nivea Men Power 24H Fresh Effect Shower Gel.

    Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face.
Cien PURE Fragrance Free Sensitive Bar Soap.
    Brush: Lider Turkish Boar.
    Face Lather.
    Blade: Gillette London Bridge. (D2)
    Lather: Arko Shave Stick.
    Razor: FaTip Grande.

    Post:
Cold water face wash with brush squeezing's, Cold Water Face Rinse. /Homemade (~Autumn/Winter mix~) peppermint lavender, eucalyptus, + Tea Tree essential Oils Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel./Gummy Traditional Turkish Tobacco Cologne./ Aloe Vera Gel.

    Greetings,

A relaxing Turkish theme Sunday morning shave.

As always the humble Arko shave stick provide a slick protective lather in a short space of time.

I've mentioned many times in my posting that I take into consideration why some people have a love/ hate opinions on the scent of Arko & derby shave sticks, even though both are great performing soaps some people can't/won't shave with them purely because of their scent, to my nose both soaps have a 'Clean scent' which I don't have any issues with besides that, once I've done my final cold water face rinse I find the scent has virtually disappeared. I also count myself very fortunate to have a skin type that hasn't had a adverse-reaction to any of the shaving soaps and creams that I've used to date.

A enjoyable 2 pass + pick ups comfortable shave with no errors to report. Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Aloe Vera Gel.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine. ;)

Keep safe and enjoy your Sunday ladies & gentlemen.

Relaxing Sunday shave with 48 hour stubble

Usual prep, Omega 49 and still trying to finish the Barber Shop soap

Changing my Setup to include a Gillette New with Elios blade (1)

Somewhat more care was needed than with the Flare tip, I thought I felt something along the right top lip but nothing materialized

Could have stopped after 2 passes, but that is not my style, even managing some ATG upper lip with the NEW

Super smooth DFS and some BBS

Ended with CWR, Alum was a bit stinging in areas in which I gave the necessary extra attention, CWR, Thayers was soothing. Decided to go with Rinfrescante ASL, since today's temperature threatens to get over 30C

Another superb result from the NEW, I am beginning to understand that any blade will do, one just has to focus on where the blade is, how it is presented to the beard map, how much/little pressure to apply to each area ( which can and should be different in each pass)

Have some great shaves, have a great Sunday
