Saturday, November 4 AoS Unscented~~Simpson M7~~1958 D3 Gillette Adjustable (9)/Gillette Platinum With this final shave using the AoS Unscented (there were some remnants remaining in the bowl, that I discarded), I brought out the Fatboy and the Simpson M7. (Love the handle) It was a good run and there is nothing more satisfying (after a great shave), than using up another soap. Tomorrow, I'll start my next 3017 with this: This tin of Mike's is one of the first soaps I purchased. Not quite as old as when Mike was in Brooklyn, but old. There are 68g remaining: You can see that I was almost at "Doughnut stage". I did, however, for better facilitating F&L lathering, press this puck into my oft-seen Aesop SS bowl.
My Mike's 3017 has officially begun. Details of the parade will be announced at a later date, subject to Mr. Pig's availability. I've asked @Keithmax to pull some strings since he has connections with their Gurley, AL field office. I completed my first shave last night with Mike's Hungarian Lavender. The puck is essentially new, so I'll be enjoying it for awhile. I'm a big fan of the scent as well as the performance. I will, however, need a few shaves to dial in the lather to my liking. I broke out my B-400 by Tom handle with the Envy White Supreme two-band badger knot for the task. I had been using a synthetic brush for so long that I had forgotten how nice a badger brush feels. I hope you all have a great weekend.
Congrats, Joe, on finishing the AoS! With all these 3017s completed, I am concerned that your stocks are running dangerously low. And wow, watts up with the artsy photo of the light diffusing through the center of the Mike's puck? Does this foreshadow your F&L lathering being done at the speed of light? Or maybe I'm just a dimwit and this is all just a filament of my imagination.
As long as we're weighing pucks of Mike's, I'll do likewise tomorrow. For reporting and auditing purposes by The Guinness Book of World Records, I assume everyone uses scales that are certified annually. My puck is rather new and not gnarly looking like a couple I've seen here so far.
Sunday, November 5 Mike's Vetiver~~Simpson Rover~~UK Gillette Red Tip/Gillette Platinum~~Tom Ford Grey Vetiver Here we go. Moving right along with another 3017. Mike's is super-easy to lather and as one can plainly see, creates a sumptuous suds: I am still 3017'ing the AoS ASB and, as an added attraction, will 3017 my bottle of Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. (I may come to regret this decision)
November 5, 2023 Hone 15S Tatra Zenith B29 Boar Mike’s Vetiver Witch Hazel Guerlian Vetiver EdT Happy Sunday Everyone. I really Mike’s shave soaps. While many other artisans chase new soap bases and the scents of the day, Mike is a constant performer with unapologetic scents. If you are not an fan of Vetiver, I would not recommend Mike’s Vetiver. It is unapologetically straight vetiver and I love it. Take care and have a great day.
Day 1 November 5th Barbasol Floating Head w Astra (4) APShave SynBad / Poculi Mikes Orange, Cedarwood & Black Pepper SS Thayers Stirling Autumn Glory I barely loaded enough product his morning. Almost had to squeeze the brush out in the last pass, which is a failure in my world. A very nice lather, but I’ll do better tomorrow. I have to make a label for this tub as well. I really didn’t like the original tub. Have a great day all.
"All Of The Above" still looks good on the survey-course I don't know the final date OF said survey, so I can't project a winner.
