Terrific Tabac shave Chris. Gillette Blues are good blades. Really, most, if not all are very good.

Not a GREAT Throwback Thursday shave, but it was all right. I held the Barbasol under the warm/hot tap to help creare thickness, instead of a snake-like appearance/ Succeeded with THAT.I went over a speedbump on the right cheekThat was one cut, got another down at Cactus Nation..Fine elsewhere.I'm bothered by the fact that the cheek ingrown hairsare,,,well...GROWING at a rate I don't like. Maybe I should try angling when I get to those hairs, as I do at the north ends of Cactus. I'll see how it is when I get back to soaps over the week-end. I do NOT want to grow a full beard, that's a fact. Nice work with tue Gabels A.S. Pretty Outstanding.

Originally, I was going to hold off the headshave for this afternoon, but decided to do it with my faceshave and that's why I don’t have a pic with the R102. I usually take my pics the night before. Anyway, I decided to be daring and put a fresh Dollar Tree blade in my most aggressive DE Razor. I will talk about the headshave later.
I decided to go with my Friodur for my face shave because I had a heavier stubble and this razor is still sharp after 40 shaves from when I first honed this razor. I went with the Seaforth Spice Lime because I like the scent and it's easy to lather. Here's my lather:

Did 3 passes on my face and dome for BBS shave. The Assured for Men Blade was kind of rough with my R102, but it wasn't so when I used it with the cheap Dollar Tree Razor. I did get a tiny neck on the back of the dome, but the alum fixed it. Hopefully, when I use the R102 with this blade it won't feel as rough.

The alum feedback was nada on the face and neck and negligible on my dome. Splashed on the witch hazel and matching aftershave. I really enjoyed this shave this morning. Take care.

The year 2018 was the last time I attempted a "No Buy" for a particular year.

Great Tutorial Joe...I totally agree with your "Most safety razor shavers don't work the lather enough while doing a bowl lather"..When I first started out bowl lathering my lather was voluminous, fluffy with hardly any cushion, but trial & error, more error than trial taught me to continue to lather until it created nice peaks...I use a similar method to yours with Williams Mug shaving soap which always gives excellent results.

Really no need to purchase the scent balm. I use the unscented version then put a drop or two of the aftershave with it before application. This way you have more versatility with the balm and your of splashes you like so much

    SRS # 992 - Fougere Friday - Thursday Edition - Brocha

    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: Martens HDW Co. 11/16” Kingwood scales
Brush: Sawdust Creation Studio Working Man Blues
Lather: Old Cahaba Shave Club Brocha
Aftershave: Los Jabones de Joserra Brocha
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Normally I have been reserving this shave for Friday, however, given that I will be in the Southern Den tomorrow morning I opted to move this shave. The OCSC Brocha is on its death throes as the Edmund Fitzgerald is making a bee line for the tub. I have approximately 14 grams of soap left in the tub which translates into 7 - 9 shaves depending on how much I scoop out. I will finish this soap before I head to the Southern Den in mid December for our little construction project on the Villa.

Once again my three passes with the straight has left my face super smooth. I did receive a modest report from the alum, strangely more than usual. No big deal, the soothing feeling properties of the witch hazel and balm quieted the report quickly.

Hope you all have an enjoyable day.

Very true. Some vendors sell unscented soaps, balms and splashes plus essential oils so you can scent things any way you want whenever you want...

    IMG_20230911_171050_kindlephoto-64131404.jpg

Still sticking with my Cunning Plan(TM) to Titanic the Neutrogena shave cream tube. The plastic tube is feeling light and nearly empty.

One pass was sufficient. Alum was silent.

I am wondering about the vintage Schick blade, which is still fine after 19 shaves. I wonder if that is partly because of the mass of the stainless steel Supply injector razor? I have noticed that when I load a new Personna blade into my little vintage Schick E razors - which are small and mostly Bakelite or plastic and therefore very light - the blade often feels rough for the first shave or two. But the same blades loaded into the Supply do not. And I think the reason is that the Supply razor has 3 to 5 times the mass of the Schicks, so the heft of the razor "steadies" the blades. Is this current blade longevity for the same reason maybe?

Hope the week is treating everyone well.
