    18 Nov 2023 (No Repeat November) : new setup, trying to simplify things a bit

    50- 52 hours

    18 Nov 2023.jpg

    Prep = cold water soak x 3 for 30 seconds each, no pre-shave
    Cream = Tabac-in-a-tube. Somewhat less than half left…
    Brush = Ever-Ready 200
    Lather = face lathering today, no bowl
    Razor = Muhle R89
    Blade = Shark Super Stainless (2)
    Passes = 3 +
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, CWR, Thayers. Tabac ASL
    Damage = none

    Score = 9 ish / 10. Not the smoothest shave, but a good start to the day nevertheless

    Comments = Tried my hand at face lathering today, it's do-able !
    The lather worked out OK. Easy enough to add water as you go along. But not as slick as I would normally like, especially in the 1st pass, and then too thin in the 3rd pass. The Shark Super Stainless (2nd outing) felt smoother today, but it could have done a better job at tackling the 2 days growth. The first pass was a bit of a drag, but this is generally what I find when the lather could do with some extra water. Nevertheless it felt safe enough, no damage was done, and I had a presentable start to the day ahead.

    Hope you all have/had a Super Saturday

    Love the old classic splashes..Not sure if the girls of this day and age would be drawn to their power.

    Great pic, setup and shave Chris. I'm not a handlatherer because it would interrupt my flow when I am straight shaving. Hands must be dry shaving with a straight or a shavette.

    For this morning, I closed out(for now)the Bill Neumann Heartwood team(SS&AS). Just a seconf ago, I knocked out the remainer of my N.E. Porcupine problem....course I'd prefer to do that DURING THE SHAVE. I go North to South, as it it directly under my right nostril...don't need or want a cut there. Otherwise, no cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots. Clean and clear all around. I'm not finished with Bill Neumann u sage though, in this month of Neumann November. A couple shaves with the other A.S.(Signature 1907)before the close of the month will do me good. Anyway, back to this morning. As we know, I can't buy another Neumann next year(or ANYTHING for that matter). But that'll be fine. Super Duper Outstanding.

    Well, in that case, let me say TOUGH on them.

    They do like them, just not on us old guys lol. My 16 year old son does well and gets compliments when he digs into my old school Pinuad and other scents.

    For me, my wife still thinks I smell great!

    I tried Shark blades years ago and had the same results. Just OK first shave and then downhill quickly.

    We need to teach the "girls of this day" that men do get old and use the same splashes we did when we were young.

    100% yes. My son is a throwback to when men were a bit more masculine. Two black belts at 16 (and heading that way in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu). Loves classic rock and doing outdoorsy stuff with me. His current peers are losing a lot of that unfortunately

    By the way, I meant to thank your son for being a 16-year-old Pinaud user. That is about the time I first discovered it.

    Troy M Prep: Mephitis mephitis musk

    Prep: shower
    Lather: TOBS
    Brush: Synthetic
    Razor: ATT Windsor
    Blade: Personna (3)
    Post: alum and Captains Choice Bay Rum

    2 passes to the noggin and one on the throat. In keeping with my focus, I bowl lathered before heading to the scalp and throat. Nice and slick. I found the tub of TOBS in the bottom of a drawer. By now it is a hard soap, but it lathered quite nicely and provided a nice slick coating for the old bean. Alum feedback was negligible.

    Now off to the wedding of my best friend’s daughter.

    Wonderful shave Joe. I had tried a sample of the A & E Asian Plum soap. I was impressed with it.

    Not really. For the life of me I have no idea what razor you are using, the specific brush and soap. You sometime reference a Bill Neuman splash, however, I do not know which one or any idea what the scent might be.
    In past you have tweak my interest slightly regarding the quality of the Bill Neuman splash, however, the missing piece is the name of the splash and scent. All part of the learning process of this thread.

    Hope you might consider modifying your post to inform me and possibly others as well.
