What's Your Latest 100 Blade Purchase, And Why??

As I mentioned above, I liked these, then after not using them for awhile, I used one and felt it wasn't sharp enough. Perhaps I got a bad blade? That, however, doesn't bode well for quality control, since I am still only on my first tuck of 5.

I plan to try one again very soon.

 

i have purchased tatras,and tigers recently,just to try them out.at $11-20 shipped it's worth the gamble.i read many good reviews about them with the odd not so good one.if i don't like them my friends love free blades,so they don't go to waste.

 

I would order some new ones but I have no less than 100 0r more of each of these and a dozen or more brands of those notshown. More blades and more razors is what a guy needs. I tell my son these are his inheritance. He doesn't think it's funny but..

 

and so on..gave a buddy a bunch of blades that i don't use,got some more to replace them..

these platinums work well for me in my favorite gillettes,but i like all my blades to be honest.shavers in the 1950's didn't have bucket's o blades and adapted to whatever they had.mostly blue blades..

 

My dad usually gave me his used blades. (BlueBlades). Even a light beard was like pulling them out in singular.. The Spoiler cannot be beaten.

 

I just bought 100 Personnas from Maggard's this week. I am running out of Voskhod and wanted to use some blades made in the USA.

 

The Spoilers are some of my favorite vintage blades. But, my favorite vintage blades are Wilkinson Sword Super Swords. Both are getting pretty pricey now.

 

DaltonGang, if my dad were still living, he'd debate you until the cows come home. My father was a dyed in the wool Gillette kind of guy and as a matter of fact? He was horse trading Gillettes back in the 50's. He always wanted the Coronation Set and from time to time he'd have a Rocket or two of sorts. Heck, I was in high school and I didn't keep track of that kind of stuff.

 

I just pulled out a pack of of Vintage Gillette Blue Blades. They looked perfect, and still a little oil on them. I didn't think they were so bad, until about half way through, the first pass. It started to tug a little more. So, i tossed in a Tatra blade I had in before, with 4 shaves on it. Smooth as silk. It all reminded me of the last time I tried an old carbon steel blade. Bad bad bad. I don't think these old carbon steel blades hold up well, over time, even if they look good.

 

The very best GBB and hot water soak, conditioner, hot lather and all? And that shave was still terrible to the shave we're getting today?

p.s. A guy who fires up a GBB? You either have to be a masochist or really be in need of something to do?

 

Yes. Not terrible, but not pleasant. Hot shower, hot face towel, and a very good lather of Arko. I just jumped right in, with the used Tatra, and it was a night and day difference. I used a Gillette Fatboy set on 5.
