Quickie today. Busy with family, cooking, etc….

Getting back to better soap definitely fixed the issue. Had a truly sublime shave today. The Fatboy and Slim Adjustable’s have the same head geometry as far as I can tell, but there is a little holiday magic in the extra weight of the heavier razor.

It’s going to be hard to put this combo down, but I want to do some travel kit testing before this month’s focus ends.

I hope you all are having a great Thanksgiving holiday, are eating too much and are surrounded by your loved ones.

Thanks again for all the encouragement and friendship. Truly thankful to have found my way back here….

    Scott

fine shave and pic Scott.the slim will have a thinner head (top to safety bar height) than the fatboy with quite different geometry.but similar resulting blade exposure.:):eatdrink047:

Thanks Gary. I appreciate the expert knowledge. They feel the same on my face, which I guess is due to the similar blade exposure…

BTW- Working on photo quality, which (I hope) you can see in my latest picture…

Lovely shave setup and pic Barry. I find adding some citric acid to our hard water helps clean the basin and the razors, I like to keep things nice and clean (OCD!)

Yikes the top end of that price range is high. Free is better. Question is: would you trust them? Ever tried one? Would they get the same results as you?

Nice shave and set up Scott. The few Stirling soaps I have perform really well for me, anyway, but I don't find them that fragrant. I love my Stirling Bay Rum ASL though, and am thinking of ordering of sample of their Bay Rum soap. Any idea if the scent is as strong?

You use two aftershaves? What am I missing ;) ?

I see the Lucky Tiger is quite popular, might want to give that a try too at some stage.

It was a very close shave. Would it be as close as some of my straight razor shaves today. Not sure. I sometime marvel how close I shave with some of my razors

Thanks Chris. The Stirling soaps all smell less strong then the aftershaves. The Bay Rum is really nice though and well worth trying.

The two aftershaves were doing two different things for me yesterday. Lucky Tiger is “fantastic” for face care. Soothing, has chamomile and a few other ingredients that agree with my face. Especially in the winter months. Having said that, it has almost no scent.

The Jermyn Street has a sophisticated scent with staying power, and is one of those aftershaves that borders on being cologne. That went on as well because it’s a holiday here in the US and we were socializing. More of a special occasion thing.

Lucky Tiger would be a great Throwback Thursday aftershave(or however I choose to use it)....began in 1935. The 1930's-a great decade for the old school shaver, with Skin Bracer(1931), Gabels A.S.(1932), Lucky Tiger(1935)Old Spice(1938).

pic looks great.i use adobe photoshop express-the free version - on my laptop.mostly for the "resize for forum"feature as all my pics are too large straight from my phone.i like all the pics on the forum,it's what i enjoy most-pro or amateur, and i don't judge which is which.some folks have to have all the gadgetry to express their shave-gear included ;),for me, simple.honest, technique, hard work gets the job done nicely;expensive/complicated fancy pics-gear don't guarantee great shaves..:):eatdrink047:

Today I decided to leave S.Porcupine alone(chin), as the cut was bloody again. Another reason is I didn't have anything for it-will get band-aids and a lotion today. But a real nice shave everywhere else. The combination of Fine's shavesoap strength and the Latigo(also Fine)A.S. makes this a wonderful duo. I just wish I hadn't developed the cut using ir yesterday. As we all say, "Technique Trumps Tools". 2 passes. No cuts(other than the existing one)Knicks, Polka-dots. Not sure when I'll get back to shaving S. Porcupine. Very Outstanding.
