Today is a non-shave for me because I will be out all day and into the evening. I will shave tomorrow morning because I will have approximately 40 hrs of stubble.

 

Super shave Gary. Is that the new or old formula of Col. Conk soap?

thank you Joe.not sure,this is the "heat and pour into a bowl" formula from a few years ago.a combined an amber and lime puck .works good.old i guess because i got a new col conk shave cream jar recently.

 

Yes, you could do that with the old formula. I believe their new formula doesn't allow you to melt the soap.

I had another great shave with the Kai blade on the third shave, so going to stretch it to four before switching it out for the next brand. I do think Monday was my fault since the blade was fine today. Enjoying the Kai’s immensely.

Two passes, no weepers or irritation, and DFS/BBS all around!

I picked up the Vesuvio Noir set during Barberry Coast’s Black Friday sale. It was still a bit more than I would usually spend. This version is a vitamin enriched, moisturizing “anti aging formula”. Due to the cold coming, my dry face and my positive experiences with this company, I decided to give it a try.

Went with the bowl and was rewarded with a ton of great lather! This cream is definitely thirsty, so I'm interested to see how face lathering goes on the next shave.




So far I give the Vesuvio Noir a very high rating. The lather was light on my face, but very slick and protective. Very nice cherry scent. Post shave feel is just what I was hoping for. My face feels very hydrated and ready for the temps in the 20’s that I’m heading out into this morning.

The Aftershave is less cherry forward and more complex. Getting a mix of leather, smoke, vetiver and cherry to my nose. Quite nice, actually…

3- Gillette Silver/Blue

I simply have not tried to push these blades to their limit. I have so many that I toss DE blades after 2 shaves.

 

Setup for later today. I really liked the R41 shave so, today I will use an open comb "Shave Nation" razor with the Razorock Bulldog handle.

Razor - The Joker is helping today with the Shave Nation open comb and the Gillette "Silver Blue" blade (1)
Soap - Proraso Sandalwood in a tube
Whisked in my custom bowl with my Simpson "Berkeley" badger hair brush
Proraso Sandalwood pre-shave cream
Thayers Toner & Sandalwood balm
Proraso after-shave lotion finishes the job

I like how smooth my face is after a 3-pass shave. WTG, ATG, and across the grain
