    Great way to end The weekend Joe! Do you feel like the alum feedback came from the change up of routine?

    Thanks Scott. In answer to your question, it would be no because I usually get a little more feedback when a blade is fresh.

    Sunday December 10 - DE & Defunct December

    Prep: Hot shower with Aleppo 20% laurel bay oil soap

    Razor: Rockwell T2 on dial setting "1" / Rockwell (1)

    Soap: JM Fraser's Shave Cream

    Brush: Jason's 30DC LE with APShaveCo 24mm cashmere synthetic

    Lather Bowl: none

    Post: rinse, alum, rinse, Lucky Tiger After Shave and Face Tonic

    Last shave: Wednesday - 4 days

    The JM Fraser's Shave Cream is a long-time Canadian drugstore brand that is now discontinued. It lathers easily, provides good protection and has a light lemon scent that is similar to Arko but less "industrial". From the 1950s to 2020, it was the Canadian equivalent of Arko -- a good quality but cheap commercial product that was available in drugstores across the country. Covid killed it.

    The brush was made in 2017 (I think) by Jason @jtspartan for the 30DC. Very nice brush, both the maple handle and the cashmere synthetic knot. It whips up lathers easily and is firm but soft for face lathering.

    After buying the Crown Shaving Co stuff, I fell off the No Buy wagon and bought the Rockwell T2 during their 50% off Black Friday sale this past month. It came nicely boxed with the adjustable razor, stand, leather head cover and a box of blades. I broke it in today. I started at "1" on the dial - and found that that worked just fine. It was much like shaving with a vintage Gillette Tech, except with a louder rasping sound.

    The Rockwell blades are supposed to be quite mild. A lot of people seem to dislike them as "dull and tuggy" .... The one I tried today was okay. Not my favourite blade perhaps, but no issues removing 4 days worth of whiskers with two passes, even on the razor's lowest setting.

    I expect I will use the T2 for the rest of DE December and wring out its paces.

    Hope everyone has a good week!

    Thanks Joe, it sure did again this morning

    That's lots of Bay Rum Scott, thus far I only have the ASL.
    Great sounding shave, it's really good when everything comes together and works out beautifully

    24 hours

    Prep = Cold Water Prep and shave, Tabac in a tube as Pre shave

    Soap = Sterling Black Cherry
    Brush = Omega Pura Setola 11137
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Muhle Rocca 96 black
    Blade = Bic (day 3, but really only 2)
    Passes = 3 +
    Post = Usual
    Scent = Proraso Cypress and Vetyver cologne
    Damage = none

    Score = 9+ / 10
    Comments = I continued with the Rocca 96 today, wanting to get to know this better. The Bic performed well, 3rd day of use but technically only 2nd because it was only used for one half of the face on each of the prior outings. I like this blade…….busy stocking up on these

    Have a lovely Monday everybody

    Congrats on your new Rockwell T2 John! I use both my 6C and my Model T version 1 on setting 4 for face and head shaves. They are fine razors and I am sure you will find your T2 to be a fine Razor, too. Ì had no issues with the Rockwell blades except 15 dollars for 100 was somewhat pricey. However, they were sharp enough for me to get the job done. Finally, glad you had an awesome shave. Enjoy your day.

    The Personna Lab Blues are off the charts for me. I'm sitting in my office close to 24 hours later, and parts of my face still feel "almost" BBS....

    Very happy to be back doing the focus months again. My last go around, I was very much about classic razors and tried a lot of the Russian blades. At the time you could get them by the 100 for a few dollars. My technique improved enough that the shaves were much better than my cartridge days, but now I think I stopped experimenting too soon. I could kick myself for not trying some of these blade's years ago...

    After this blade focus month, I'm going to ring in the new year by trying a selection of modern razors in January. That's another area I never really touched on. I probably need to try a classic Gillette open comb razor at some point too...

    Very Nice Chris. I just ordered an R41 Grande, and have been following your comparison shaves. Looks like the Rocca is another fine candidate for an aggressive razor...

    Thank you Chris. I'm really starting to dial it in now, and waiting for your first review of the Kai blades...

    There is no such thing as too much bay rum for me. If I was an actual pirate I would dunk my entire head into a cask of it without hesitation lol...

    DE Shave # 496 - DEcember Shave 5 of 15

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Merkur HD 39c “The Slegehammer”
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
    Brush: RazoRock Plissoft “Beehive” 28mm
    Lather: Stirling Sandpiper
    Aftershave: Floïd The Genuine
    Additional Care:
    Maggards Alum
    Nivea Sensitive Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

    Wonderful Stirling shave with the Sandpiper. To me, the scent is okay, it is nice but does not knock my socks off. The performance is what we all have come to expect from a Stirling shave.

    The Merkur 39c, the bigger brother of the 37c, delivered an extremely close shave. I am getting use to the longer and heavier handle.

    I am all set for the construction on the extension of the lanai in the Southern den to commence this morning.

    Hope you all have a great day gentlemen.

    Thank you, gentlemen!

    Frankly, Joe, I had been eyeing the Rockwell T2 off and on for years. I noticed you using your T and liking it and that played a big part in my finally deciding to pull the trigger.

    In other words, you and Gary are wholly to blame for my recent shaving purchases. I was just an innocent bystander; it was nothing to do with me. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

    Thanks Joe, evening drawing to a close down here, nearly bed time.

    Don't blame me Scott, you are in the rabbit hole on your own, matie! Lol. Hope you will like the Grande

    Ha! then we could call you a Rumoholic as well as an Arkoholic!

    My Kai's haven't arrived yet, hopefully this week with some other stuff. Some of the blades I am looking for are getting a bit hard to source right now, hopefully just the Xmas rush and not ongoing supply issues.

    My own rabbit hole is getting deeper and wider, the deeper it gets the more treasures I find.

    Have a great day!

    Lovely handle on the sledgehammer Joe, we don't see too many of these on this thread.

    Good luck with the build. Thanks for the new word (for me at least (lanai) had to look that one up!)

    If you imagine what pirates must have smelled like after months at sea, I guarantee you would have been right next to me at the rum barrel LOl.

    I changed my signature to reflect the new title you just gave me. ;)

    I ordered the R41 before your posts, so no blame from me lol. I'm going to look at 4 razors in January. One per week, but will keep the rest under wraps until then, Keeping my mind on blades for now...
