  1. Yes, people have said that. I take it then it isn't a matter of HOW I use the razor(positions, etc.)

  2. You are correct, Paul.
    The multi-blade carts are actually designed to cut the hair BELOW the surface. So, some faces are prone (as yours obviously is) to getting ingrown hairs.
    The only suggestion I can make to you, short of changing razors to a single, DE blade-type, is to use the ABSOLUTE least amount of pressure you can.

    The drawback will be no more BBS shaves. The upside will be you may very well alleviate your ingrown hair issue. I would call that a win.

    Since you are a daily shaver, anyway, what's the difference if you don't get a BBS everyday?
    I don't. I don't care about a BBS, considering it's gone in 3 hours anyway ;).
    Hope this helps.
  3. Think I'm going to try cutting back on the pressure. As I've written before, sometimes I do come away with great shaves(Super Duper Outstanding, or higher)sometimes not. Thanks.

    Good afternoon.

    Shavette Shave #515
    Dovo
    Gillette Wilkinson Sword 1/2 DE Blade (3)
    Stirling Boar Brush
    Van der Hagen Select SS and bits of others.
    Stirling Alum Block
    Modessa Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 24 hrs

    It's a shavette shave day for me and I decided to use VdH soap in my mug. I also added bits of soap that were left behind from my bowl lathers. Why waste soap? Anyway, here's my lather:

    Did a 3 passer with pickups for a smooth comfortable non-BBS shave without errors. The alum was silent. Witch hazel and the PC Classic aftershave followed. There wasn't any burn from the aftershave. Take care.

  6. I'll just say in this thread that I got my two Stephan products today-Bay Rum A.S. and Hair Styling Gel. (Couldn't find the "Haul" thread). I don't need either right away, as I got a nice haircut last week and I still have some of the Bay Rum left from my previous bottle.

  18. Everyone has a right to their opinion. I can take any backlash. However, I stand firm with my comments. What I said needed to be said as the overseer. If a member doesn't try any suggestions given by others, then they are wasting their time on this thread. Now, if someone tried suggestions by members and it didn't work out, then that's fine. If your a member on this thread and your shaves don't significantly improve after many years, then there is something wrong. I just happen to point out some of the reasons why a particular member fails to do so. It's the old saying," blankety-blank or get off the pot. "
  19. no complaint from me..:).i have learned to shave properly via this thread since 2017.i have used Gillette DE razors primarily with some other variants and have achieved great shaves daily..one day at a time..i thank everyone involved over the years for their encouragement..:):eatdrink047:

  20. 21 Dec 2023
    24 hours

    Prep = Cold Water Prep and Tabac as pre shave
    Soap = Stirling Black Cherry sample
    Brush = Omega 10049 white, bristle
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Gillette Flare Tip
    Blade = Gillette Minora (1) again a fresh Minora
    Passes = almost 2 and done with some touch ups, but went to 3+
    Post = Usual
    Scent = PR Cypress and Vetyver
    Damage = none

    Score = 9+ / 10 another great shave. Don’t want to get over confident...

    Comments = Cheeks and sideburn areas I went XTG both ways in Pass 1, this worked pretty good. The hair here swirls every which way, so that NS or SN or whatever makes no difference. The hollows under the ears need ATG to start with, only way to get the razor in there. The flats can be done with longer strokes and more pressure with this setup. The hollows and curves still need short buffing strokes with less pressure. Adam’s apple and Zone 8 turned out super smooth without too much thought. ATG top lip still feasible at 24 hours. Can’t remember being this smooth for most of the day. Just the hollows between lower lip and chin, and the convexity of the chin still to conquer. I will stop overthinking this and leave this to the subconscious

    It's that time of the year to start slowing down and chill in the run up till Xmas

    Have a wonderful Thursday one and all

    Edit: just realized this is about my 6th consecutive setup with this arrangement except for the blade. So we can call this a mini focus!
