    Thanks Scott. Although some of the modern razors are fun to use, the vintage razors are in a class all by themselves.

    Prep = Cold Water Prep and shave, Tabac in a tube as Pre shave
    Soap = Sterling Bergamot and Lavender - very mild scent
    Brush = Omega Pura Setola
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Gillette Slim I-4 set on #3 and down to #2 for touch ups
    Blade = Kai day 2
    Passes = 3 +
    Post = Usual, then Proraso Lozione Dopobarba Barbe Dure
    Scent = PR Cypress and Vetyver Cologne
    Damage = none

    Score = 9+
    Comments = Great performance from the Slim yet again. The Kai is still sharp: because it is “bit” wider I though I would dial down the Slim for the touch ups. No sweat. Delightfully smooth. I will take this to a 3rd day and see how it performs

    The Bergamot and Lavender is a classic Sterling performer with a very mild scent, but fused well with Barbe Dure and the PR Cologne

    Happiness is a smooth blade and a smooth shave

    Yep, slacker and scruffy, But....it makes for better shave the next day, my theory anyway

    That is some gnarly looking ingrown hair Joe. Ooops my mistake thats a bird right, a big one: my guess he is looking for a bargain razor Down Under. After a recent review by Scott I am waiting for a Henson to come up on sale, I think it might be worth a spin

    Thanks for posting John, better late than never, life sometimes gets in the way.

    The 5/5 shaves are piling up now that I can use my preferred blades. Remembered today why I have stuck with GSB’s for so long. Today was an effortless 2 pass BBS/DFS experience.

    The Charcoal Goods and the Gillette Super Blue are both mild DE razors. That’s where the similarities end. The CG is a solid brass artisan razor. It’s beautiful and hefty, heavier than my Fat Boy and literally just drove itself across my face. This is another absolute winner and was a joy to use.

    The Proraso creams are among those classic products that I somehow never tried back when I started DE shaving. I read that you get the best performance if you use the full line of pre, shave and post. Since this is the time of year when I’m most concerned with my skin, I went all in on the oatmeal and green tea white line. It was interesting that the shave cream and balm were both unscented, but the pre shave cream had a surprisingly pleasant lemon scent.

    I regret not trying Proraso sooner. Not an incredibly thick lather but the smooth glide is off the charts. Now I have to figure out if it was the razor or cream that made today’s shave so very easy and smooth. I suspect it was both.

    Have a great day gentlemen!

    Consecutive days shaving- 11
    Current skin issues or irritation- None so far

    Wonderful shave and setup Chris. I had the Stirlimg Bergamot and Lavender and I agree that it is a mild scent, albeit a pleasant one.

    Great shave Chris! Proraso products are awesome. The Proraso Green has a mild menthol kick and the aftershave is pleasant, but doesn't last too long. Enjoy your day.

    Great looking setup and shave Scott, interesting razor. I think you are encouraging to dig out my Proraso again at some stage in the future.

    Thanks Scott, yes I think so, there are some naysayers about adjustables, but here is another to own one: with the Kai being a bit wider than a normal blade it gives you an opportunity to finetune that. I hope the Kai's will get a bit smoother as time goes and that will learn to take a blade beyond my usual 1 or 2 days. I think I am enjoying razor and blade combinations that are smooth rather than too aggressive. Time will tell

    Thanks Joe

    Hi Joe, I think the credit for the proraso goes to Scott, I have some Green proraso and really should take it for a spin again sometime soon.

    Much better shave today than that of yesterday. 2 passes. No cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots. I still didn't get much soap loaded onto my face and neck,, but what did come out resulted in success. Will try to load better the next time Bill Neumann comes around. I should also try to administer more BN aftershave. But still I feel much better this morning. Most Outstanding.

    Great shave, Scott! Interesting handle design on that razor.

    I have never used ProRaso preshave products but have several of their soaps/creams and may have a couple balms too. You are reminding me about how good they are -- probably time I dug them out and put them in the rotation again...
