    Wonderful Spice shave Joe. The Spice will be up for a shave next Wednesday.

    We were talking about the after shave, not the soap. Cherry/marzipan is exactly right for the soap, but the AS is a different beast altogether…

    Wonderful shave Joe. How close to Old Spice is the Stirling? I would be an immediate fan if it’s a good imitation…

    As a kid, I remember the scent of the original Shulton aftershave that my father and uncles used. I would say it's not close, but I would say it is in the upper deck of a baseball stadium.. However, it's a great barbershop scent and you wouldn't be disappointed. Yes, there are some shavers that have said that it is a good dupe, but I don't see it or should I say smell it.

    Thanks for the feedback Scott, I have TOBS Jermyn Street cream in a tube, but like you said in a later post the ASL is different. I have no idea what Fougere smells like, may want to see if I can add it to my next order.

    Thanks Joe!

    Thanks Gary

    Thank you Joe, finally finishing some product. Nope, but only because I already have too much. I will miss the scent though, so if I needed more I would definitely buy more, but I like getting the samples as a try before you buy more kind of thing.

    Agree, English spelling and grammar is tough for foreigners, more exceptions to the rule than rules themselves.
    But my Anglophile tongue gets mixed up with the Italian pronunciation anyway.

    My youngest son taught a lass from Milan English online, and she in turn taught him Italian on line, then they met up and got married. It was fun watching them try and explain the ins and out of their own language to each other! And their giggles at me trying to get my tongue around the words in the Italian phrase book. Naples is something else, of course.

    Well, I can't sing at all, so anyone who can sing has my respect, but anyone who can sing opera has my total respect. Hats off to you Sir Primo.

    Lol! Nope, no thanks Joe: my youngest son, the same one, learnt some Japanese on his own and then went on with it at Uni. I have no desire to follow suit! Some days English is hard enough for this old brain, and we were taught properly at school too in those days (consonants etc Paul @Paul Turner). How quickly one forgets.

    I had the Jermyn Street soap at one point and it was a toned down fougere, so I'm imagining the cream smells similar. If you like the JS cream you should also like the Cella aftershave. Very close with a bit more pine and citrus to balance...

    18 Jan 2024.jpg

    Prep = Tap Water Prep and shave
    Preshave = Tabac in a tube as Pre shave (curling up and rapidly nearing its end)
    Soap = Stirling Bay Rum sample (day 2)
    Brush = Pura Setola
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Gillette Tech Argentinian
    Blade = Feather (2)
    Passes = 3 +
    Post = Usual CWR, brush washings, Alum, Thayers etc
    ASL = Pinaud Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum
    Scent = Bulgari Wood Essence for good measure
    Damage = Downer: still the same rough spot on the chin from yesterday. Pimple maybe? Or maybe too much overlapping buffing in that area? Anyway, not happy. Need to avoid that area for a few days. The rest was fantastic though

    Score = 8.5 / 10
    Comments = It seems I need less buffing and touch ups with an OC combined with a smoother blade, worth exploring more

    Have a lovely day one and all, and stay warm and safe! Wow down here I can’t imagine the cold I see in some of your latest pictures, pretty as they are.

    (Went out at lunch time at work on Tuesday to run an errand, the wall of heat hit me in the face. It was quick errand! Peaked at 44C briefly ~ 110 F. Back to the safety of the air conditioned office asap)

    Fine Throwback shave this morning. No need for a" redo" on the right jawline/ear area, it was done to begin with :). Great work on the cheeks/sideburns, ditto both ends of Porcupine Alley. I suppose I could have done a bit better at Jawline Central, but no damage was done, at least. I'll try to do better at Cactus Nation tomorrow, but I was overly satisfied. 2 passes. The pour spout on the New Spice aftershave is a little big, therefore if not careful you can see Niagra Falls right into your sink. Same as with Aqua Velva, as I've said before. NS is a nice fragrance though. I bet the pour spout on Shulton's Old Spice was tighter. Super Duper Outstanding.
