    January 19 SOTA Fatboy Friday

    Good afternoon.

    1959 Gillette Fatboy (setting 6)
    Wilkinson Sword DE Blade (4)
    MrEE LE #10 Cashmere Brush
    Angora Soaps Midnight Lavender SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Modessa Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 24 hrs

    I really didn't need to shave today, but I wanted to perk myself up because of the dreary weather outside. It's Fatboy Friday and I went with one of my fav soaps for this session. This is my remaining puck from Angora Soaps and when it's gone, then it's unobtainium. C'est la vie! This soap really has a wonderful scent and really makes a fine lather. Here's my lather:

    Honestly, I was done after one pass, but I did 2 more per my usual routine. An errorless BBS shave was the result. Did get some nice alum feedback on my neck so I wasn't surprised. Witch hazel and the wonderful aftershave topped the shave. Take care.

    Prep = Tap Water Prep, Tabac pre shave
    Soap = Saponificio Varesino Felce Aromatica
    Brush = Razorock 400 synthetic nice weight to match the solid feel of the Gillette
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Gillette Aristocrat
    Blade = Derby Premium (1)
    Passes = 3+
    Post = Usual CWR, brush washings, Alum, Thayers, PR Rinfrescante
    Scent = PR Cypress and Vetyver
    Damage = none
    Score = 9.5 / 10

    Great vintage shave. Nice and heavy but well balanced Gillette. Some pitting on the barn doors but purely cosmetic. Derby Premium was chosen because (a) not used this razor before (b) OC razor, but it peeled the 48 stubble off easily enough

    Used 1 scoop of the hard soap into the Timeless bowl, but this landed up making way too much lather. Thick and slick but had to remove the excess to another container to be able to carry on building the lather. Next time I can use much less... I might just use a dry-ish boar and load straight from the puck. Nice subtle scent, matched with my Vetyver Cologne from Proraso

    Relaxing shave to start a busy Saturday, hope yours turns out as well or better

    Greetings,

    (Face & Head Shave)

    A new shave set up to start the weekend....The Proraso Blue shaving cream created a nice creamy slick protective lather with only a small amount in a short space of time The residual slickness is superb leaving an excellent post-shave feel to my mature skin.

    An acceptable close comfortable face & head shave with no errors to report.

    Finishing the shave off a with a few small dollops of Nivea Men Replenishing PSB.

    My face & precious swede are feeling smooth and smelling divine.;)

    Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.:cool:

    Nice going Barry:happy088:

    I need to try my Proraso Blue Shaving cream again at some stage: I notice you bowl lathered with it, have you tried face lathering? do you have a preference?

    Thank you Chris..The Proraso Blue shaving cream provides a good lather, however I prefer the Sandalwood & Shea oil, especially for the autumn/winter months, which works much better on my face in terms of both cushion and post-shave. I really like the Sandalwood & Shea oil Aftershave too, the addition of the Shea oil is a great tonic for my skin against the N-East coast winter elements. As for face lathering with a shaving cream, I don't really have a preference ,occasionally I face lather using a damp synthetic with a shave cream placed in the brush adding a small amount of water to get it to the consistency that I prefer whilst face lathering. I tend to face lather more with my harder soaps / shave sticks using my Boar brushes.
