    Prep = Tap Water Prep only
    Preshave = none
    Soap = SV Felce
    Brush = Semogue OC Cherry
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Gillette 1938 Aristocrat
    Blade = Derby Premium (2), binned
    Passes = 2+
    Post = Usual followed by PR Rinfrescante
    Scent = Bulgari Wood Essence
    Damage = none

    Score = 9+
    Comments = No PreShave today. Mistake? Maybe

    Loaded from the puck this time, 40 swirls only with a fairly dry brush, wanting to use less soap, but I forgot what a lather hog this brush is. Adding water as I went. The lather was thinner than yesterday. Much thinner. The last pass and the buffing felt like shaving with no lather at all, with more friction. Maybe one can shave with water alone?

    Probably the blade is too mild for this razor, despite being an OC

    More to play and experiment with in the weeks ahead!

    Have a safe Sunday and some super shaves

    Fine shave Chris. My Semogue OC Pure Badger is a lather hog also. I make sure that I overload this brush and just paint the lather on my face. If I splay the brush, then the lather goes into the brush and doesn't release the lather. I do this loading method with all my latherhogs.

    Thanks Joe! I do remember having this discussion with you before! maybe I am a slow learner, maybe I am just a splayer rather than just a painter!
    Or maybe for me this brush is better with creams and croaps. This is what makes this hobby so interesting

    Today I was reading the SV thread here on TSD and found the comment that the SV works better with synthetics, no idea why, but I have made a mental of that for the future

    Have a great Sunday Joe

    You may have all noticed that I’m actually busier on the weekends. I’ve been sick for the last few days as well, and was flat on my back yesterday. I did manage a quick, final shave with the CG razor to keep the streak alive.

    Feeling somewhat better today and ready to tackle an OC razor. The Fatip Grande actually gave me a great shave with no drama, irritation or issues. All BBS/DFS with my usual two passes. I got a touch more sensation with the alum than I did with the milder razors, but that’s it. I was careful with technique and pressure since I was worried that all the mild razors this month were going to make me lose focus. Nothing of the sort happened.

    Hope you are all having a great weekend. Cold is finally supposed to break here by Tuesday.

    Consecutive days shaving- 22
    Current skin issues or irritation- None so far

    DE Shave # 510 - Sample Soap Sunday - Angora Soaps Midnight Lavender

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Fatip Grande Open Comb
    Blade: Personna Lab Blues (1)
    Brush: JTSpartan Boar 24 mm
    Pre-Shave: Pears Transparent Soap
    Lather: Angora Soaps Midnight Lavender
    Aftershave: Chatillon Lux Pure Lavender Toner
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

    Outstanding shave this morning. There were two firsts with this shave. The soap, Angora Soaps Midnight Lavender courtesy of Joe, @Trigger, and the blade, Personna Lab Blues, courtesy of Scott, @SDK.

    First impressions: the Lather - We have seen in numerous post in the past made by Joe praising the lather, the slickness and down quality of this soap. Honestly, I think age is catching up with the man. This soap is nowhere near the quality he expresses. Perhaps his criteria is shifting with age…:yoda

    :happy097: :happy102: :happy108:

    In all seriousness, Joe is spot on with his assessment of the performance and scent of this soap. I am glad I have had the opportunity to use it given it is no longer in production. Thank you Joe.

    The blade - I have to say I am extremely impressed with the performance of this blade. I did my usual three passes that lead to a smoothness that could possibly pass the cotton ball test. Next Sunday I will do a comparison shave with the GSBs and the same software and hardware. Thank you again Scott.

    Finally, the Chatillon Lux Pure Lavender toner finished off this shave nicely.

    Enjoy your day gentlemen.
