I decided to forgo my headshave and just do a face shave. I will do the headshave tomorrow morning. Anyway, I picked my Aust straight and went with Music City Suds Lavender. Decided not to bowl lather and just load off the puck to face lather. I used the bloom water as a preshave. Did an error-free free 3 pass shave without any leakage. I got a nice, smooth shave. The alum was silent and finished this session with my usual routine. Take care.
  3. It is amazing how things get moved around and misplaced.

    Take care Paul.

SE Shave # 511 - Sample Soap Sunday - Angora Soaps Midnight Lavender

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Fatip Grande Open Comb
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1)
    Brush: JTSpartan Boar 24 mm
    Pre-Shave: Pears Transparent Soap
    Lather: Angora Soaps Midnight Lavender
Aftershave: Chatillon Lux Pure Lavender Toner
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Repeat shave with all components of last Sunday’s shave excluding the blade. The Personna Lab Blue was switched out for the GSB. I have to say I received another quality dolphin skin smooth shave.

The JTSPARTAN boar brush whipped a nice lather. The Angora soap is a soap which is unfortunately no longer attainable. This shave easily would have been acceptable after the first pass, but after three passes, just divine.

IMHO, the comparison between the two blades, Personna Lab Blues and the GSB, is shavers choice. Either one of these two blades perform extremely well delivering exceptionally close shaves. Therefore, Scott, @SDK, I will give them an equal rating. I believe, if I am not mistaken, you rated the Lab Blues over the GSB by the slimmest of margins.

Hope you all have a great day.

  19. That sounds about right Joe. I found the Lab Blue slightly sharper and the GSB slightly smoother in my Super Speed. Toss a coin, depending on what razor you are using and what you’re in the mood for.

Even the “per 100” prices for the two brands are close…
  20. Outstanding Cella shave Joe.
