here my Sunday Shave (04.02.2024)


Pre: Aloe Vera Gel // Razor: Parker Variant OC // Blade: Personna med. prep. // Soap: Sapone da Barba Vegetale alla Mandorla // Brush: Semogue 1305 // Aftershave: Floid

A very good shave in 2,5 passes. The razor is smooth and gentle on setting 4.

The 1305 is a mighty fine brush, even i like my Synthetics MUCH more. It has done a good job with this nice soap.

The Floid is a fantastic Aftershave. Soothing, cooling and very good fruity, powdery scent.

All in all a 9 out of 10

This Blend 47 soap and aftershave toner are awesome - the scent is eucalyptus in a very nice way, the soap’s vegan based, it lathers beautifully, the menthol sensation is at a good middle of the road level, and it’s so skin friendly. The matching aftershave toner has the same nice scent, it’s so moisturizing as well as soothing, and it’s really mentholated. Last but not least the Aqua Velva aftershave went on icy cold along with its great old school scent that I love so much. Three passes gave me another beautiful BBS shave that was so enjoyable!

The Eskimo Tuxedo Shave Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #217 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gem G-bar SE Razor and a Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Razor : Gem Micromatic Flying wing(Aka= MM-bullet tip, Guiding eye, MMFW.....) Mfg 1947-50, mild > tame mid range. Excellent razor for milder shaving or folks with skin issues + its a Micromatic razor built to last generations. I like to use this milder Micromatic with a fresh blade (1-4 shaves) works well for close shaving. This morning had a close comfortable shave!
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE blade(2) very sharp, excellent longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle.
Soap : TOBS Herbal Sandalwood, nice fragrance of herbs and sandalwood 7/10 scent strength with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Moka express" 26mm 2band badger. Excellent lather generator, pillow like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + great lather painter. Great shave brush that works well for my shaving needs. Knot is large size but still manageable to smear lather.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Proraso red AS lotion with witch hazel + a dollop of Geo F Trumper Sandalwood skin food.
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers= Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Micromatic flying wing with a Gem coated blade. (Cotton balled tested and one small tuff showing, Cotton ball confirms a close shave today!)
