Saturday, February 3 Le Père Lucien Bay Rum~~DG B5 Hucklaration~~Friodur 472~~Barrister & Mann Kyovu As an homage to @Keithmax I reached for my Friodur 472. Successfully shaved without any nicks and/or cuts. My left knuckle remains intact. This soap is not my favorite and doesn't compare favorably to the Ethos. The scent is the European's idea of Bay Rum, one that has never pleased me. A 3017 isn't in the cards for it and I'll move on to something else tomorrow. Perhaps it needs to be piffed...
Congrats Keith. Nice job knocking out the Tabac, but I'm sad that humanity is one puck closer to extinction of this tallowy goodness.
Sunday, February 4 AoS Oud~~Semogue 2012 SE Mistura~~Gustave Lalune Mon Fier Destrier~~St Johns Bay Rum/W. Indian Lime The subject of my next 3017 is this tub of Art of Shaving Oud Shaving Cream. I would say there remains approximately 40% of the original amount. While I have transferred the contents into my Aesop SS Bowl, it remains a very soft cream, but over-night, it developed a "skin", so I was able to swirl the brush directly and went right to the face. The Lalune is a unique razor, as it was created using the old-fashioned method of drop-forging. This is my edge and while I did get nipped on the upper right cheekbone, all-in-all, it was a very nice shave. BBS on the cheeks and jawline and a DFS on the neck. I experimented with a combination of stanks. I picked up this pair on Ebay and they had both been opened. I had a 1oz bottle of West Indian Lime Cologne and I dumped it into the bottle of AS. That really upped the ante vis-à-vis scent-strength. Back in the day, I had a bottle of Dominica Bay Rum w/Lime. Stupidly, I sold it, albeit for a tremendous profit. That item has now become unobtanium. One pipette of the Bay Rum and one of the Lime and presto-chango, Bay Rum w/Lime. And, it should be noted, stronger than I remember the Dominica being.
February 4, 2024 Timeless Aluminum Gillette Nacet Zenith B25 Boar LEA Classic Shave Soap and Aftershave Happy Sunday. I have already been to the office this morning. Trying to catch up on the work I missed last week. Another excellent shave this morning. Everything just worked well together. Have a great day and take care.
February 5, 2024 Blackbird Ti Lite Feather Doug Korn LEA Classic Shave Soap and Aftershave Happy Monday. Another weekend that went by too quickly. As expected this lineup worked well together. I am very fortunate to have gotten a Doug Korn brush before he quit. The brush just feels fantastic in my hand. Take care and have a great day.
Monday, February 5 AoS Oud~~Simpson CH3~~Wolfman WR2/Feather~~St Johns Cutlass This is going to go faster than I expected. There was less product than I thought. Excellent lather. Nice shave with a fresh Feather blade. The Cutlass stank received an unsolicited SWMBOSOA®
February 6, 2024 Blackbird Ti Lite Feather MR EE LE # 004 LEA Classic Shave Soap and Aftershave Happy Tuesday. I had a very productive day yesterday which was just want the business needed. Now I just have to keep the ball rolling for the remainder of the week. Another excellent shave this morning. I will say that I am finally coming to terms with the BB Lite. Take care and have a great day.
Tuesday, February 6 AoS Oud~~Simpson The Harvard 4~~Cobra Classic/Feather~~St Johns Indian Gold This soap is like incense in our bathroom. Funny, how quickly it firms up when left uncovered. The Harvard 4 is a beautiful SiLVERTiP; soft as a bunny and comfortable to hold. The Cobra Classic is quite the opposite. Angry, aggressive, beefy and, in the right hands, (not always mine) a superior shave tool. Another stank from the Virgin Islands. Today: Indian Gold.
I don’t get it. You guys must be smoking that Tabac to like it so much. I understand the dry aging process in grandmas purse is meticulous, but I just can’t get past the smell. Maybe the Clubman covers it up…
I remember that injury, it takes a brave man to test his metal again. Could you feel the disruption in the force? I never understood the reference to grandma's purse. My grandmother's purse smelled like Chanel No. 5.
To celebrate the completion of my puck of Tabac I reached deep into the sacred soap drawer and selected the vintage Old Spice. This is truly premium shave quality stuff. No way will the be the next 3017 target.
MISTER Fancypants, the only thing I like better than Tabac is ice cream. If you weren't critical to the world's supply of Rocky Road, I would not hold you in such high esteem. Bub, you're second only to Howard Johnson and his 28 flavors! By the way, I still think you should reintroduce the Plum Nuts flavor at the 2024 International Mar-a-Lago Frozen Treats Conference, but what do I know?
