Suneko Shave#30 All shaves were with an E-1 Fatboy, setting 5, ARKO Soap, and the @oscar11 Special brush, wiith a Snthetic Knot. Still a very nice shaving blade. No signs of it quitting. I am taking the time to prep the whiskers before the shave. Smooth 2 pass shave, that delivers a DFS. Little to no feedback with the aftershave.
Suneko Shave#40 The edge has deteriorated a bit, from when new. Still going with two pass shaves, WTG and ATG. I moved the number from 5 to 4 on the Gillette Fatboy, and that kept the shaves smooth. I do have to do shorter buffered strokes with the shave. At shave 40 i noticed I needed to do some touch ups around the chin area, to get the same results. I feel this blade might not have much left in it. But, the shaves are still comfortable, so I will carry on with the testing. It's difficult to stay with one blade so long, when there are others needing to be tried.
No. I believe the less handling the better. I rinse the head of the razor with hot faucet water, then blow any residual water out, and off the edge of the blade. The hot head aids in keeping the blade warm and speeds the drying of the blades edge.
No. Too much preparation involved in stretching these blades to the max. I enjoy trying other things, and am missing my Straight Razors.
fair enough.thank you for blade test so far.i still have my 2 razors loaded and will use them until the blades produce irritation.they are definitely worth their weight dollar wise.
Suneko Shave #45 I switched from setting 4 back to setting 5 on the Fatboy Razor. Setting 4 was too mild for the blade, since the edge had degraded some. Setting 5 put me back on track, for now. Very nice shave. Not BBS, but very close. .
#5 i believe, nice and smooth. -Thursday- rocket hd semogue vito's stirling i have around 8 loaded razors in rotation at present,3 with suneko blades this HD,a g-4 slim and a post war design tech..
very nice!i was looking at thread on Rockets.I can tell a Rocket from pic, but how do I know it's HD from pics? maybe i missed someting in threads, but couldn't find definitive answer. like my TTO i bought recently, but want to try heavier one too. i read Rocket HD is one of the best!even if not HD, want all brass, not aluminium.thank you very much!
I think this was aimed at you @brit . But, if I may, i have bought many British made TTO razors off of the eBay UK site. This was when shipping was reasonable, and shipping to the USA was simple for the seller. Now it seems few want to ship to the USA, and it they do, they charge a ridiculous amount. Many many times more that what it should cost. EBay France sellers are even harder to work with now, than Ebay UK. Then again, some are still easy to work with.
hello Charles.this is a rocket HD. This is the all brass version, they do come in many variants but this razor is the most sought after shave wise and easy to find. ebay.uk
What? Who? Me? I swear to all there are no finer, sharper or more comfortable blades than the .. "Gillette 'SPOILER'". Yo?
thanks but most seem to look like that. i found https://vintageshaving.au/razors/gillette_rocket_part_one/ but other than knowing weight or material how do u tell it is HD?maybe i'm missing obvious.thank you very much. better to continue questions here:https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/the-official-gillette-rocket-timeline.64648/#post-2115026
rocket HD SET.look for the band at the top of the knurling on handle. non HD rocket set.no band at top of knurling on handle. thats the easy way to tell between HD and non HD.hope this helps.check on this website. https://mr-razor.com/
thank you very much.now i see.pics on https://vintageshaving.au/razors/gillette_rocket_part_one/ are misleading since i saw band on each there.
