  1. Fine shave Chris. I have never tried Col. Conk soap. Is it the new formula or the old one. I am not sure if the new one has glycerin. Glycerin makes lathering a soap much easier, especially in hard water. I have seen you tube straight shavers use Col. Conk soaps without any problems. Shaving with a straight requires plenty of slickness from a lather so I am surprised that you didn't find the Col. Conk's lather up to snuff.

  2. Thanks Chris. The Stirling Frankincense and Myrrh scent on the soap and aftershave is ok. However, it's a ymmv thing.

SE Shave # 369 - GEM MICROMATIC MONDAY

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip
    Blade: GEM Stainless
    Brush: Semogue Hereditas - Boar
    Pre-Shave: Pears Transparent Soap
    Lather: WTF Vintage Barbershop
    Aftershave: WTF Vintage Barbershop
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

I had a very nice shave this morning save the Turnerism along my upper left sideburn/cheekbone area. I will chalk it up to user error as the mishap occurred on my very first stroke with the razor. Following a few subsequent strokes the blade did not feel right. Upon further inspect I noticed the blade was slightly askew. No further issues after rectifying the alignment. This is what I get for loading the blade without my spectacles on. While I am no Mr. Maggoo, the vision over the years has become blurrier with age. :angry019:

Despite the mishap, although it took a while with the assistance of a small bandaid, I ended up with a super close shave. The alum report was almost no existent. Now I am getting ready for tomorrow’s potential snow event.
    Ready for it Joe, @Trigger?

    Have a great day gentlemen.

  17. Wonderful shave Danny. Yes, I agree with you that using a more aggressive razor to mow down 2 days growth is the right choice.

  19. Fine shave Joe despite the mishap. I can see how the misalignment can happen because I have done it with my MMOC. However, I double check everything before I proceed. As far as the weather, I am not thrilled, but I don't think it will be more than 3 inches. Will just have to wait and see.
