    When I say "closed out", I mean "until next time", which in this month of Fine February won't be far away. Course many of you TSD regulars know what I mean with that "close out" langwidge.

    Well, it's better to spend your money on shave stuff, than cigarettes (fags). Congratulations on quitting cigarettes for a year.

    Feb 12 SOTA Sayonara Cella!

    Good afternoon.

    I haven't used Artie in months and it was time to bring him out for today's shave. What better way to bring this bad boy out then to finally sink the SS Cella. I have to say that this soap lasted a very long time. Originally, I wasn't going to do a headshave because I didn't think I had enough soap to do both head and face shave. It was a last minute decision and that's why I didn't include the R102 in the pic. I was right because I had to modify my headshave to 2 passes and plenty of touchups instead of my usual 3 because the lather was almost non-existent after my face shave. However, all was well because I got very good face and head shave results. Did get a small period size blood spot above my lip. It was like a tiny, superficial scratch.

    Alum was mostly silent on my face and neck. However, there was some on my nape behind my ear. Splashed on the witch hazel and the Pinaud-Clubman Classic aftershave for old geezers like myself. Honestly, I love this stuff. Take care.

    Thanks Joe. Now, I think my next candidate to Fitz is my Van der Hagen Select in my apothecary shave mug or TSD Irish Spring soap.

    Flexible, Favourite, Feather, Fatip, Fine, Felce, whatever grabs my Fancy

    Growth = 1 day

    Conk’s Bay Rum challenge continues

    Prep = 3 x 30 second tap water soak
    Preshave = TOBS Jermyn street cream as preshave
    Soap = Colonel Conk Bay Rum
    Brush = Omega 10049
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Merkur 37C
    Blade = Derby Premium (2)
    Passes = 3 +
    Post = Usual tap water rinse, Alum was alive and zinging all over today, tap water rinse, Thayers
    ASL = Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum
    Damage = slight weeper top lip left during the shave, disappeared after cold water rinse

    Score = 9.5 / 10
    Enjoyment factor = Better, much better

    Comments = Blooming the Conk softened it considerably. Longer loading with the bristle brush. Less than half the water used compared to yesterday …. But…. I added 5 drops of glycerine to help it out. Much better than yesterday, this soap needs less water, more determination and doesn’t get to that wet-paint-in-a-freshly-opened-tin look. But, leaving it thicker made for a much better performance. Usually with my 2nd pass my lather thins out, this time the 2nd pass was thicker. Go figure. Either way very happy with a fantastic shave and smelling divine. This Bay Rum has less cloves, and more of a sweet scent

    Terrific Tuesday to one and all

    Thanks Joe, bought this a year ago, so yes must be the new formula
    It does say it has Glycerin in it....

    but I also note the preshave instructions to use the pre-shave oil to moisten the skin
    Just an observation, of course ;)

    Well, I can't say this shave today was top notch, but it left me quite pleased. This Oro Valley has jumped to near the top of my favorite Stoylin soaps. I've always been happy with it. Flew onto the brush at the loading dock(as do most Stoylins). Shave itself was really well done along the cheeks and sideburns. Ditto South Porcupine Alley. Not so much up North, as I developed a cut and Knick. On Cactus, I really do need to develop a patttern-seems like I've been just floundering around down there. I did better on the left side...less floundering. Will work on improving the right side tomorrow. 2 passes. Very Mediocre.
