Thanks Joe, hope I will be able to maintain that. Only one or two minor scrapes this month so far

Thanks Barry! beginning to understand all that. So a stainless steel blade means the whole thing is stainless throughout but the edges can be coated with teflon or tungsten.
I only 2 or 3 shaves max with any blade so if the Carbon blades are cheaper they may be worth a punt.

    Thanks Gary

    Lovely shave and setup Gary

I see the AV Blue and other Aqua Velvas on this forum a lot but when I look around here it's ne'er to be found. Even the specialized 'scent' shops here that sell all sorts give me a blank look when I mention Aqua Velva. One of life's mysteries.

Just swap the spout for one with a smaller opening or modify it if you can. No point the sink getting more than its fair share

Flexible, Favourite, Feather, Fatip, Fine, Felce, whatever grabs my Fancy

    Growth = 1 day

    Gillette NEW OC
    Feather (3)

Stirling Satsuma day 2. Very nice
    Pura Setola
Preshave application of TOBS Jermyn Street shaving cream

Added a bit too much water to the Sterling, less slick than I would like but still an easy shave

Feather and the Gillette OC are a combination to be closely watched with careful attention
Likely dulling Feather on Day 3 meaning more buffing than usual, hence some damage...

Damage: minor weeper left lower neck, cleared up on its own. My fault. Because of it, I treaded lightly on the Zone 8 right lower neck. Left some turf there for next time

Score : still a 9+ / 10 for a super smooth shave and satisfying shave

Usual Post, the Alum was singing alright. Fine Latigo

Super scent, lasting for most of the day

Hope you all had some great shaves this Friday

Last shave: probably Saturday - 6 days

    IMG_20231121_010233.jpg

I didn't log my last shave but I think it was on Saturday.

That one involved my Supply injector, Hendrix & Co "Barbershop" soap, Jason's Canada Goose synthetic brush and Lucky Tiger Face Tonic and Clubman VIBR to finish. It was a good shave.

Today, I went back to a DE shave, which I rarely do nowadays. I had intended to do this shave on February 22, but it was early on the 23rd by the time I applied the blade to my face. Why did I want to use this setup on the 22nd? Because this razor belonged to my father, and the 22nd would have been his 95th birthday. Unfortunately, he died in his sleep 4 days after his 85th birthday -- hard to believe he has now been gone for 10 years...

To be honest, I never really knew him to use this razor. I think it had been his first razor (about the right date), but by the time I was old enough to remember seeing him shave, he had happily relegated it to the medicine cabinet as an armpit-only razor, and he did his daily shaving with a modern high-tech Braun electric. While the model changed every 10 to 15 years, he was a Braun electric man for the rest of his life. In fact, he started me off shaving with my own Braun electric, and I used one (or later a Phillips) until I discovered the world of wetshaving about 15 years ago. Dad always thought that was a rather peculiar choice.

Anyway, today was a good shave using my Dad's old razor and the excellent accompanying Canadian brush, cream and aftershave, (And Canadian-branded razor blade that was almost certainly actually made by Personna in a factory abroad somewhere.)

I did two passes. The first was WTG on my face and ATG on my neck; the second was XTG on my face and WTG on my neck. The result was a DFS close to BBS. No blood or burns anywhere, although the alum was a bit warm overall. The balm laid any heat to rest.

My DE technique is a little rusty, but that's okay -- my injector works well for me, and I can still do a blood-free shave with a mild DE like the Tech on occasion.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

And this is for everyone who thinks the Good Old Days of Yore were better than Modern Times. And look! It even has sharp blades in the scene!:

    DE Shave # 517

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Yaqi Traveler
    Blade: Shark Platinum
    Brush: Ever Ready 200T
    Lather: MLS The Drunken Goat
Aftershave: Chatillon Lux Unconditional Surrender Toner
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Outstanding MLS shave this morning. I have only one shave left with this soap. Afterwards, I will have on one MLS soap left in the den, REUNION.

Fantastic three pass shave with the Yaqi DE. The Shark Platinum blade delivered a smooth and irritation free shave. The shave was finished off nicely with the CL toner.

    Have a great day gentlemen.
