    Hi everyone!

We had a great month of shaves and I am sure we will have the same caliber of shaves this month. We are all entering a new season because the equinoxes are approaching and therefore, most of you will be shifting your software that will be more appropriate for your environment. Changing scents during a seasonal shift can be fun. I would say it's definitely one of the perks of being in this hobby. Lest I forget, I want to welcome @elektrotasil Asil to this thread. I am looking forward to your posts and your progress in your shave journey. Finally, I want to thank all of you for sharing your shave posts last month.

    Monthly Themes

It's March Madness time once again! It's up to you as to how far you want to take it. You can continue to use your setups like you normally would or go crazy by mixing and matching different software that doesn't necessarily complement each other. If you want to be a little more conservative, mix and match razor handles to a different cap and/or base plate. Just make sure that the threads are compatible with the handle. I am sure you guys don't want to strip threads.
It also means to try something new in your shaving routine. It could be using a new razor, soap, brush, blades, etc. You may also try to prep your beard differently by using cold water instead of warm water or vice versa.. These are just suggestions so as to give you food for thought. You might even think of something that I didn't suggest and that would be cool, too. Remember, it's your shave, so do it your way.

It's Mühle month for those who want to shave with their Mühle razors for a week as a rule or go full focus for the entire month. If you go that route, then you decide how to proceed. Another monthly theme would be Muggy March that was suggested by Joe @JACarbone. If you have soap in a mug, then use it as your focus or rule.

Ok, let's continue with the basic tenets of this thread!

I want to welcome all the veterans of the 30 DC and all the newcomers. This thread is for the purposes of improving your shave technique so that you will consistently get great shaves. There are a number of ways to do it. These are suggestions so feel free to do whatever you want in regards to your shave.

    The 30 Day Rule
Take ONE razor, ONE blade, ONE brush, ONE soap/cream and use them EVERYDAY this month. Yes, everyday. But Trigger, I want variety! I know you do, but until you perfect your technique, it makes little sense to constantly change the variables of your shave.

    The Focus
For you out there that are not up to the rigors of the Rule, there is this alternative:
Vary the gear for each shave, save for perhaps one or two elements.
This is a more accessible challenge for the majority of shavers. I like to pick a particular aspect of the shave, be it the lather, a certain blade or a new razor, that needs breaking in, and not change it daily, until I have mastered those tools.

Ok, to keep the thread on a nice even keel, I ask everyone to follow the thread etiquette as listed below:
    1. New Members always welcome. Start anytime.
    2. Old Members always welcome.
    3. Respect everyone.
    4. Refrain from political conversation.

I also want to suggest that we should try to assess our shaves as to why it was good or why it was not up to your standards and express these reasons in your comments. The spirit of this thread is to improve our shaves and if we share the reasons why a shave was good or bad, then we are giving our experiences to encourage good technique and discourage bad technique so that we have great info to get better shaves. I am not suggesting that we do it for every post, but I think it would make for a healthier thread if we start to do it more than we have in the past years.

Moreover, you don't have to do a rule or a focus. You are free to change your setup on a shave to shave basis.

Finally, I want this thread to continue to be a friendly place. It is ok to disagree because that is how we learn from each other, but let's encourage and respect every member. Yes, even if you think they are off the wall. Let's face it! We all are a little off because of our different Aquisition Disorders. Lol!

    Let's have a group hug!

Also, let's have some awesome March shaves and fellowship.

    Sincerely,

    Joe (Trigger)

Fine Friday shave(no, not with Fine, lol). One glitch cost me the high mark-a Knick in the center of South Porcupine. Not painful. Clean and clear everywhere else. A little heavy on the Agadir aftershave, but it's a nice scent. Will try to ease up tomorrow, as I close out the Oud Wood set until next time. 2 passes. Super Duper Outstanding.

    Good afternoon.

    Straight Razor Shave #529
    5/8 Dovo Best Quality
    JR #290 Cashmere Brush
Pedro Fiasco's Limoncello SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Modessa Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 28 hrs

Decided to take out my Dovo Best Quality straight. It was my second straight razor that I purchased just over 5 yrs ago.
I went with the Limoncello soap and aftershave because it has a nice, lemony scent and the lather is slick and creamy. Here's my lather:

Three passes and a touchup gave me a great error-free shave. The alum was silent. Witch hazel and a generous splash of the matching aftershave were applied to end this nice and relaxing session.

SRS # 1048 - March Mug Madness - Ach. Brito Mogno

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Taylor Eyewitness 1000
Brush: Shore Shave Blue Nebula w/ Paragon 25 mm Boar
    Pre-Shave: Pears Transparent Soap
    Lather: Ach. Brito Mogno
    Aftershave: Obsession A/S Balm
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel

I plan on incorporating about 20 shaves in the March Mug Madness theme. I have 7 mugs which I plan on giving some love this month.

I decided to start of the month with the Ach. Brito Mogno soap. The Shore Shave boar was load from the mug with about a 25 second load. We don’t have a loading dock here in this den. ;). The vrysh completed the job of whipping up the soap into a nice lather in my Doug Smith ceramic bowl.

I did my usual three shave with the straight. I did manage a knick by the right side burn close to the ear. It was rather tiny but took some doing to stop the flow of crimson. Otherwise, the shave was spot on.

Looking forward to another month of great shaves gentlemen.

Great setup and shave Joe. I completely understand the knick on the sideburn with the bleeding being persistent because that happened to me last week. It really was a pain to stop the bleeding.
