  3. I was lucky to find one in the UK, I have used it twice both times with a GSB, Palmolive cream and Nivea balm.

It feels like it could bite if not careful, the sound from it is like scraping a knife over burnt toast.

I have done 3 pass shaves but to be honest I think 2 passes could be enough, ATG could be dropped.

I have a little irritation but nothing serious, I have got to use less pressure, no cuts or weepers though.

The shave is super close all over my face and neck, my neck has been a problem area when using other razors.

I think this is the right razor for me, very efficient and its got history, I like using vintage razors over modern ones.

Now I need another one for a spare / travel razor.

  4. very cool.it is very possible your razor could have made it there during wartime with a u.s soldier, but also could have by a new wet shaver .;)it is quite capable of biting.this wartime design was known for possible blade chatter so watch for that, post war models 1947 and newer held the blade closer to its edge and had more even clamping force, same as the 1950 and newer british techs.i am from england but moved away in 1980,settling in canada.my favorite are the brit gillettes, but that is for nostalgia reasons as well.i will use them for the rest of my shaving days.:):eatdrink047:i also have techs from france ,germany, and now argentina...it's a sickness;)
  5. I wondered about 'brit' I'm in Warwick, what part of the country were you from.

I love the vintage Techs as you say it could become an addiction.

The last time I had a shave as good was in Turkey with a cut throat.

    Keeping the.
USA triangular slot head on a Maggard MR1 handle
    Overall length 88mm
    Overall weight 80grms
    Handle weight 50grms
    Handle diameter 11.2mm

Love the way the triangular slot shaves but like a heavier handle

  9. Thanks it's been fun trying different Techs, for me the triangular slot is the best by a good margin.

  10. Just out of interest how does an English flat bottom Tech compare to the USA oval slot
    brit likes this.
  11. i find the flat bottom more efficient than the u.s oval slot tech ,bbs achieved for me in fewer passes with the flat bottom.it has better blade clamping than the triangle slot tech due to a more roiunded base plate, but the u.s post war has the best design clamping wise.the flat bottom has better plating and finish imo,if comparing 2 NOS examples.the u.s offered gold versions of the tech, while england didn't offer even a rhodium plate version unfortunately.canada had a flat bottom version for a year or less late 1940's.i love the unique design of the brit flat bottom, and that is my bias,it also had the matching OC version which is a marketing plus, something the U,S abandoned a decade earlier.all other countries involved had matching post war razors, with some country specific handles from around 1950 -1962.
  12. I bought 2 sets of these for my sons but have never used one myself, I thought I was done and dusted with the triangular slot but an EFBT might be available, I think I'm more of a razor addict than thought, there is no end to this is there

  13. not really no.did you know there are 3 variants of the brit flat bottom tech?
there are 3 variants, all with different lettering on the bottom of the baseplate, and they have different safety bars, slot sizes and cap features, handles not included.and yes,:D,each feels slightly different shave wise..
